This is a great restaurant for Mexican dishes. It’s so small but they offer so much variety. I’d give it a 4.5 so I rounded up to 5 stars. I’ll definitely be back.

The portions were good but could have used a tad bit more rice and beans on my combination plate. I do wish they put more cheese on top of the beans. But the beans were excellent and better than most other places I’ve been to.

The hard shell beef tacos were probably the best ones I’ve had and I may just get two of those next time since they were excellent. The chicken enchilada was also good and you can tell the chicken was fresh. I do wish it came with a bit more green sauce.

The salsa and chips were a good appetizer and I’m glad this is included.

There is a small parking lot next door. There is one bathroom outside but it’s clean and well maintained.

The cutest Mexican diner. My friend and I stumbled upon it while looking for a place to eat before the Magic Market at Heritage Square. Get the wine!! It’s a giant pour for 5.50! The tostada was pretty good and the queso fundido, too. Not enough tortillas to match the toppings, but that’s probably better for my belly anyway . Lovely atmosphere and staff. May these sorts of places live forever. Happy birthday to me!

Chico’s is an absolute gem! The food is amazing and so is service. The guacamole was top notch, must order. The Pico de Gallo is fresh, a little smokey and medium spicy. This cute little spot has street art on the outside and is right up the block from the Food4Less on Fig. They’ve got vegetarian options like the tacos de papas which are super delicious. The Fiesta Esalada is great and huge. Excellent choice for dine in or take out!

I passed by this restaurant while growing up in Highland Park on Ave 49 hundreds of times. The mural with the mustached chili pepper is a landmark for me. Well, I finally tried it after so many years. Now I know why they’ve been in business for so long. Their food is delicious. I had a cheese tamale that was not too greasy, topped with a delicious tomato sauce, and the menudo without pata. The menudo was not the best I’ve ever had but it was really good. My husband had green and red chilaquiles and they were delicious. We had their cafe de olla, which is very sweet, just the way I like it! I give it a 4.5 out of 5 because I want to go back and try more items and check the flavor consistency, but overall, highly recommend. Also, they give chips and salsa. So happy the chips were fresh and crispy, but keep in mind the salsa they give for their chips and salsa is very yummy but super hot! Ask for some water if you are going to have it.

Was in the area and looking for a restaurant to grab a quick lunch. Stopped in by chance. First time there. Food was just okay And I don’t have to have it again. It’s a small place. Was busy. Had to wait a little while for order. The place just did not hit me right.

We had a good meal with great service just now. The avocado salad has a super generous amount of avocado. My husband enjoyed beef tacos. And I also had an extremely reasonably priced cheese quesadilla with guacamole included. I also enjoyed the wine margaritas.

Enchiladas sauce was too acidic. The service was exceptional, and the inside dining area was way too hot, in my opinion.

Came here for lunch with a group. The menu was a little bit small but the food was good. All I can complain about is the prices. They were pretty high. The service was great anyways.
