Stopped by Chicken Box in Rahway and it did not disappoint. The fried chicken was crispy, well-seasoned, and fresh—golden on the outside, juicy on the inside. You can tell it wasn’t just sitting under a heat lamp.
The sides were on point too: the mac and cheese was rich and comforting, and the yellow rice was flavorful and cooked right—not dry, not mushy. Portions were generous… real value.
There was a little wait, but they threw in an extra piece of chicken for the inconvenience. No attitude, just good energy. Very cool vibes all around.
Bonus: it’s right across the street from The Hive, so it’s an easy post-workout or late-night stop.
No gimmicks—just good food and even better service. If you’re in Rahway and craving real fried chicken with solid sides, Chicken Box is a must-stop.

Just discovered this spot and I’ve been living in Rahway for 4 years now! The owner and staff were super friendly and chill but the food! (Because let’s be honest, you can be nice but how that food taste?!). Every bit of soul and delish. Some of the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had.. perfectly proportioned with those yams! Chicken breading was seasoned nicely and I haven’t even tried the corn bread yet. Based on everything else, I’m just going to say it’s good. Try this place out, you will not be disappointed!

This is was the best fried chicken we’ve ever had. It is cooked fresh and is not some reheated soggy garbage. The breading is perfect. The chicken is juicy and cooked perfectly. The fries were also great. You will have wait a little bit longer then a normal place but I assure you the wait is well worth it.

When I went I had the fried catfish dinner with candied yams, collard greens, and cornbread. Baby that cornbread just wow.
That cornbread took me straight back to Grandma’s kitchen; buttery, crunchy, and melt-in-your-mouth perfect.
The catfish was Golden, meaty, perfectly seasoned. Yams, Not too sweet, just right.
This place is a must-visit. Bring your own bottle, bring your appetite, and leave happy.

My first time going to Chickenbox. We were told the food would take 25-30 mins to cook. It was worth the wait. The chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The fish was also good. The collard greens and candied yams were awesome. Will definitely be going back.

Excellent fried chicken. We’ve lived in Rahway for about 8 months now and frequent many places here. Just never got around to chickenbox. Finally today I got fried thighs, wings and breasts. It was excellent! The owner and family were lovely to me, and ensured the chicken was made fresh (it tasted fresh too). Crispy, seasoned well, fresh and really genuine people. We’ll be back for more and regret not coming sooner.

I found this place on Google and it looked so good. First let me say the gentleman there was super friendly and polite. I ordered a 3 piece chicken with frieds and Mac & cheese. He charged me for a 2 piece for the time i waited because its usually a 25 minute wait so I suggest ordering ahead. The Mac &chesse was very good and the fries tasted like it needed more time to cook. The chicken was ok but where it lost me was when I took a bite of some fries and I had a long black hair in it. The gentleman was so polite and asked me to leave a review. I asked for a lemonade but I didn’t get it in my order. I really wanted to like this place but after I had hair in my food i have to give this a honest rating.

The chicken was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection! I’ve lived in Rahway for two years and had no idea this restaurant existed. Not only was the chicken delicious, but the customer service was excellent. It’s a family-owned spot, and as someone from Texas who often misses my family’s cooking, this meal truly felt like a taste of home—fresh, comforting, and made with care. The restaurant was spotless, and the ambiance warm and inviting. I would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!
