Their specialty food item here is their Peruvian rotisserie chicken. It is hands down one the best and well-seasoned chicken you will taste. My Peruvian friend introduced me to this place and since then, I can taste this chicken from miles away. They have other items on their menu but the chicken is their best. They can be a little pricey but you won’t regret it. The location of this place is not the best since it’s in a very busy and congested area and finding free parking is difficult so you must be ready to pay or walk a few blocks for free parking.

Chicken Rico is a beloved local Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken counter in Highlandtown that’s famous for its juicy, charcoal-cooked pollo a la brasa and bold seasoning recipe that’s stood the test of time. You’ll find whole, half, or quarter chickens served with classics like Spanish rice, yuca fries, plantains, and creamy sauces — tasty sides that pair perfectly with the smoky, savory bird.

I really enjoy how simple but satisfying the food feels — the chicken is tender and flavorful without being overly fancy, and it’s a great mix of rich Peruvian tradition and Baltimore neighborhood charm. The portions are generous, the prices reasonable for what you get, and the atmosphere is casual and family-friendly, so it’s perfect whether you’re grabbing lunch on the go or settling in for a relaxed dinner. Some regulars highlight the yellow and green sauces as a must-try with every bite.

Overall: Chicken Rico feels like a neighborhood staple with authentic, delicious Peruvian rotisserie chicken, hearty sides, and an easygoing vibe — a great choice when you’re craving big, flavorful comfort food in Baltimore.

Clean restaurant. Nice digital displays. Menu easy to read.

Spent $46 for the full rotisserie chicken, rice, beans, yuca, string beans and plantains. It’s actually one of the best deals around.

The food itself is excellent Peruvian style chicken. No complaints. Will definitely be back and the baby loved it. He ate like 4 ounce of chicken, which is alot for him.

Charcoal cooked rotisserie chicken. Chicken has alot of flavor and is moist, Spanish style rice was really good and so are the red beans.

Not much in the way of seating find a table and sit down, pretty basic. If you are on the run for a quick puck up for lunch and or dinner this spot does the trick and quite well at that.

The only thing I would say is some of the food is just a tad on the salty side so definitely grab yourself a drink but other that that it was a good meal.

Website says $10.50 for a half chicken meal, but I was just charged $19. I realize plantains are extra, but not sure they are that much extra. Also, the digital menu wasn’t working, and the guy ringing me up didn’t understand my question on price.

I love ordering the chicken when I want a healthier version of fried chicken, and it’s always delicious. However, I wish they offered a chicken-only option, as the sides are so large that I end up wasting them.
I tried the beef once, but it came with way more potatoes than I expected, which was a bit disappointing. From now on, I think I’ll just stick to the chicken from here.

Fantastic chicken, perfect consistency yucca fries. Rice with egg was very solid. Girlfriend had the coleslaw, which I also greatly enjoyed. Price was great, and the staff was friendly. Pepsi products in the fountain, Inca cola and other, more unique sodas in the fridge. Seem like solid “family” priced meals.

I love and hate them. Best chicken you’ll ever get in the area, forget about Sardis, trust me. But occasionally my order can be wrong. Still can’t stop ordering from them. How the white meat juicer than dark meat…. Hands down flavor out of this world…. Damn.

Newly opened location. Clean and well lit. Staff are so so. Too much of a glass front – inviting vandalism – but plenty of outside light.

My mom and my son who are Dominican, my daughter in law is El Salvorian & Honduran, I am Black Dominican and before my mom passed she and my son loved to eat from Chicken Rico…. Today my granddaughter who’s 12 yrs old and who is El Salvorian & Dominican & some Black wanted food from your restaurant…..We came in& she stood at the counter and followed the directions of everybody else and continued to be overlooked so after waiting for 15 mins I approached them and they in turn gave me the run around which is not great for business since I am a business owner as well! If you have issues with BLACK PPL then simply make that known!! Sometimes you people forget that had it not been for BLACK CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS NONE of you would’ve never been allowed to even live here!!! You’re here off of the backs of BLACKS and don’t ever forget that!!! Keep listening to the stupid stuff that trump says and you will find yourselves shut down too!!!!
