I normally only review when I can give 5 stars across the board. Everyone works hard here and it is a neat place. It is like a time capsule to another era. They did everything right it is just that the chicken has very little flavor. It is not well seasoned and definitely doesn’t have 11 herbs and spices. We are traveling and searching for the best fried chicken in the U.S. and this place is not in the top ten. I still liked the restaurant and the people.

I’m sorry but it was one of the worst meals I’ve had in awhile. The german fries tasted like they dumped a bunch of onion powder on there and called it good. The chicken tasted like the grease hadn’t been changed for awhile and it just wasn’t tasty. The green beans were good at least. I was really hoping it was going to be good but no. Won’t be going back. It was way overpriced due to the lack of quality. I feel like we just wasted money. Wings and Rings would have been better.

We love the Chicken Place! The fried chicken is always delicious and crispy. The salad is fresh and crispy. Service is excellent. Weekends are quite busy, but there’s usually a spot at the bar to enjoy a beverage while you wait for a table. This place has a wonderful hometown feel to it.

I had been to this restaurant about a year ago, ordered grilled chicken, baked potato and salad and it was pretty good, the service was good as well. Tonight, we arrived, the restaurant had a very strong odd odor, only one waitress in the back and she was doing her best, fried chicken and German fries came out- chicken was bland and the potatoes were ok. We tried to pay up front to help our waitress out and the other waitress was snippy with us.

I have been here many times over many years. As a matter of fact I taught school in Ireland in the old school that was located just behind the restaurant in 1970-71. I am only in the area 1 time a year now. I must say that the chicken was fairly bland tonight from the way I remember it. Still tasty, but definitely missing something. The German fries and green beans were tasty however.

The Chicken Place in Ireland, Indiana is probably one of the best places in Dubois County Indiana to get fried chicken like your grandma used to make it. They also make excellent chicken strips, German and American fries, slaw, and other delicious food. Next time you’re in there, be sure to send an extra big thank you and tip to the cooks in the kitchen.

I stopped in for a beer before a youth basketball game nearby. Super cool little bar a block from the gym. I’m not a beer snob (rarely have a drink) but tap selection was small. I tried something new, Avalanche, and it hit the spot. Cool place to have a drink. Staff working the bar were super nice.

Hadn’t been in 20 yrs. I was really looking forward to it.
I was knowingly served a wrong side by the waitress. I tried to eat it. Couldn’t.
When asked, the waitress admitted she knew it was wrong, but still served it.
Who does that????? Kinda pricey as well.
Ordered German fries, but was served potatoes drowned in vinegar. Gross

We celebrated my father in law’s 80th birthday. A group of 10. All the food was delicious but my favorite is the gizzards and livers. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 50 years. I love the history. Great service as usual

Not a lot of signage outside or for parking…but once you get your food…oh my! It’s REAL FOOD. Home baked bread, homemade German Potato Salad, real potatoes in the German fries and chicken so real and fresh! It was so good and reminded us how great food can taste without all the additives. Very attentive and friendly service. Clean restrooms. Prices were pretty expensive, but for once we felt the food we ate was worth the money spent! Great place we look forward to going back to!
