Stopped in to get some Cajun food while passing through. I was concerned because honestly it doesn’t look very clean and everything is cluttered. People were in out and what that got looked so good. We decided to get chicken, red beans and rice and some pork cracklin. It was my first time trying cracklin. I tasted it and honestly it’s not for me. Especially after my husband told me what it is! He’s eaten it before and LOVED it! Everything else was delicious. Then the super nice man, (possibly the owner) let me try the crayfish etouffee since I never had a crayfish. WOW! It was so good. I wish I bought a small bowl instead the fried chicken.
So if you’re passing through Henderson, LA, go check it out. It’s definitely worth the stop if you’re hungry.

stopped in with my dad last week on the way from Louisiana to Texas while heading home from a big celebratory trip, and out of all the meals we had in LA it was easily one of, if not my favorite. I wish we’d been able to go every day and not just our last i’ve never been so in love with potato salad and you can truly taste the love in the roux in the gumbo. and don’t skip the fried chicken >>>>>>> i got it to go and they kept it warm for me while we ate. any time i drive through i’ll happily be back. i couldn’t miss grabbing some of their cajun + creole seasonings before heading out the door either!!

The place is cramped and a little on the dingy side,so if you need a clean spot avoid this place. Its not that big of deal to most folks just a heads up.
We went twice on this road trip fyi.
These were the best boudin balls Ive had and it has just the right amount of cheese in them and they are well seasoned.
The seafood boudin was just Ok,the rice was crunchy and dry and it wasn’t that seasoned and other seafood boudin I’ve had actually has notable pieces of seafood in it. I have had way better boudin, but this wasn’t that great it actually just seemed like regular boudin to be honest. The Boudin egrolls were fantastic, but the grease was on the old side and you can taste it however we ordered a ton of them. Again this was the best boudin egg rolls even with the old grease taste.
On the second trip to this store The order was wrong and it was really because the lady that took the order wasn’t paying attention. There is no way the mistake could have happened as the order was simple. It was caught before anything was dropped and cooked, but be sure when you order have them repeat it back to you.
When we came on the 1st half of the road trip we didn’t have this issue. The guy that was working the desk (guessing he’s the owner as his face is on the beef jerky bags) was so attentive and welcoming and no mistake was made. He actually seemed like he cared that you came in to spend money in his establishment. The guy actually spent 5 minuted explaining Boudin to another customer who was from Oklahoma.
Whenever we’re on the road again in this area stopping here will be a must. It wasn’t perfect, but that’s ok. Also they have in house seasoning to buy and the Creole seasoning is one of the best Ive had I got another one on the way back home

I have only had the fried chicken here and just can’t get past that. It is delicious fried chicken, well cooked with a crispy but not too thick batter. It’s definitely worth a try.

This place is amazing stopped here otw to Texas from Illinois and I am glad we decided to take a detour. Little hole in the wall places are the best. No fancy restaurant could even compare. If y’all are ever in the area and are looking for some good Cajun cooking, then y’all check this place out. The Gator and crawfish are perfect y’all.

It truly is a greasy spoon. Staff was not friendly. Only the girl that took our order smiled at us.
It’s pretty tiny for seating and ONLY the tables are clean. Salad was definitely overpriced and disappointing. Boyfriend says it is the BEST po boy he’s ever had. EVER. THAT’S THE ONLY REASON IT GETS THE RATING I GAVE.

We stopped for dinner on the way home based on other reviews. We are so glad we stopped at this little convenience store and restaurant! We ordered at the counter and brought out our food to the table. I had a delicious oyster poor boy, great bread and filled with fried oysters. Husband had fried chicken dusted with seasonings. We also ordered pork cracklings (fried pork belly) also dusted with seasonings. They are not healthy but tasted fantastic. Whenever we are in the area, we will be stopping.

The best way I can put this is that this is my favorite restaurant in the US. All around the best.

Food: Always hot; always fresh. Basically magic in the mouth.

Service: Always friendly and prompt.

Atmosphere: you’re in a wood shack in the bayou and you’re not sure which came first (the shack or the bayou). Enough said.
