Went by drive-thru and the service was respectful and polite. The food for an 8 p.m. run was hot and cooked well. The mini poppers were hot and yummy, but I wish they had a larger order. The chicken was very crispy and so delicious.

I’ve got to give a shoutout to the Chicken Express on 1701 W Ennis Ave. Usually, I’m just grabbing a quick bite, but today’s visit was something else. The customer service was top-notch, all thanks to this guy named Osten.
From the moment I walked in, Osten was all smiles and ready to help. I was torn between the spicy tenders and the classic fried chicken, and he took the time to explain the differences and even offered a sample of the spicy tenders. Talk about going the extra mile!
When my order came out, it was hot, fresh, and exactly what I wanted. But what really stood out was Osten’s genuine care and attention. He made sure I had everything I needed, checked in to see if I was enjoying my meal, and even offered a refill on my drink. It’s rare to find that kind of service at a fast-food joint, but Osten and the team at Chicken Express really nailed it. So, Osten, if you’re looking for some great chicken and even better service, head on over to Chicken Express on 1701 W Ennis Ave, and ask for Osten.
You won’t be disappointed!

We have discussed trying Chicken Express on numerous occasions and finally we gave it a try. We were not disappointed. First, we used the app to place our order. It is very easy to navigate and intuitive. A very pleasant surprise is getting to choose which specific pieces of chicken you want in your dinner box. I ordered a three piece meal and was quite pleased to see that I could choose breasts for all three pieces. So much chicken that the side wouldn’t fit in the box! The chicken was moist and delicious, breasts can sometimes be a bit dry, but not these…large, hot and juicy. We will be back and I already know what my order will be.

Bought supper in Ennis Tx chicken express today 7-24-25 and got the worst food I have gotten in my last 3 trips here. The chicken gizzards were the worst I have had here. I called my order in and was told it would be 15 minute wait to cook my gizzards. I understand the wait as they were going to cook a fresh batch for me, no problem. Got home and half of the gizzards were tough as leather because I believe they had been sitting under a light all day. They were inedible. My dog even said no. The other half were half edible and half leather. I will have to go to Waxahachie Chicken E from now on because they have never let me down. The store out by Atwoods is great. Not a bad meal ever. Please stop using Ennis Chicken E as they think they can serve inedible food and remain in business. Let’s pull together and shut them down or at the least, replace the employees working this shift today. It was 4:45 pm when I picked up. I don’t know who owns this franchise but I hope this store closes for and reorganizes their employees and managers. Gizzard lover, not leather with batter lover.

I ordered a 3 piece and jalapeno poppers corn and water. Everything was hot fresh and good. But I will never again order jalapeno poppers, you just get 3 for 2.79. I did not ask how many you get for that price.

I came in late one night, August 25th, and asked if I could have fresh spicy chicken cooked, and the manager on duty, named Jacob, was more than willing to cook me fresh chicken even with the fryer for spicy chicken already turned off. But Jacob literally went out of his and his team’s way to provide a customer with what he asked for. Even with it being near closing time. Jacob is a manager, no matter what fast food a customer goes to, that puts his customers first. That’s very rare in today’s fast food industry……..
Edit: 1/5/26- I wanted to update my review that I made last year in August. I went to chicken express in Ennis just a little while ago around 7:30pm. The manager named Jacob was there. I always try to get food there when Jacob is there for reasons based on my previous review. He remembered me when I came in tonight and I didn’t even have to ask if the spicy chicken was fresh. When I greeted him, he immediately told me that he just put spicy chicken in the fryer and it will be like 10-15 min until it’s done. He remembered me, and knew I like fresh spicy chicken. That is an advanced form of customer service that a lot of fast food companies don’t have. It means Jacob pays attention to customer requests and remembers so the next time that customer comes in, Jacob knows and is willing to accommodate their request within the bounds of the company policy. Meaning, if it’s not yet closing time, he will get you what you ask for. I wish all managers at every fast food chain were like him. Then every customer that bought fast food would be pleased. To the GM of chicken express in Ennis, Jacob is most certainly a manager to keep and take care of. He most certainly deserves some kind of recognition or a raise or something from you. That is a manager that keeps customers coming back.

Literally garbage every time I eat there. Always complain when I asked for catfish and say it’s going to be a 30-minute wait. My own dumb fault for picking crap to begin with

if you want FOOD, CHICKEN, DONT COME HERE AFTER 5PM! Evening shift is LAZY, I’ve literally come here 4xs within the last 2 wks. 1st time I came at 12pm, order perfect, hot fresh.

2nd time, fries were old.
3rd time, I had to request fresh fries, didn’t get my roll nor pepper.
4th they told me it would be a 30 minute wait for chicken!!! you sell chicken! How do you run out of it!? I worked fast food for 8 years, it doesn’t taken 30 minutes to make chicken. Unless you’re catching, plucking, seasoning & then frying it!
Literally 6 cars got out of line due to them not having the ONE THING THEY SELL!!! I had to settle for tenders & request fresh fries.

To the GM: if you’re not meeting your goals & quotas, for your bonus, the evening shift is the reason! L A Z Y, drive through kid is always sweet. Cooks? TRASH! Then they jump on the speaker to be rude as to why they don’t have chicken.
