Was really excited to see this place finally open ! Amazing food and cocktails. I really thought this was the best chicken sandwich I ever had. This place has such a trendy fun vibe and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. If you walk into the main dining room you can see into the kitchen and see the Chef working the expo which is actually pretty cool “backstage” vibes. I’m really looking forward to coming back and trying the fish sandwich and was surprised to see caviar on the menu. Seems very fun and laid back while being upscale. For those wondering, it is a full service restaurant, which I was pleasantly surprised by. There is large Asian/Japanese influence as well which is pretty rad. I tried the Cheep Skate Lager and it is an amazing pairing with the chicken sandwich. Lot of fun and good vibes all around.

I had read a few reviews prior to coming out and yes, the flavors in the chicken sandwich are as intense as many say. It’s done well. The chicken itself was juicy and tender, though there was a spot where the chicken was rubbery and pink. Thankfully, I didn’t get sick. The pickles were also top notch. Would highly recommend.

Went to the soft opening of Chick & Hawk today. They have an impressive spicy chicken sandwich & a unique atmosphere (the sando has serious heat). The sandwich is a large, gourmet style sandwich and it is priced accordingly. Great service for a soft launch. Cool spot.

Just beware that parking is rather tight with only a few spots available in their lot and the lot dead ends behind the restaurant.

It was a great little spot. The chicken sandwich was good and crispy, the eyrie fries were delicious (hot sauce on the side so the little ones could eat. Rose was standard and the flagpoll sitta was super sweet.

Chick & Hawk is officially open although they are only doing eat-in with takeout coming soon. Be prepared for a long wait! On Saturday night the wait was around an hour.

The chicken sandwich has a satisfying crispy crunch and spicy flavor. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. The loaded fries were outstanding.

Haven’t explored the rest of the menu but the vibe is a select offering of fancy comfort food and a wide drink selection. On offer are a fish burger, seared Tuna tataki, mushroom tempura, craft beer, cocktails, caviar and champagne.

We made reservations for lunch ….. which is almost unheard of ….. but totally worth it (35 min line to sit wo). The menu might be small, but every bite packs serious flavor and precision.

Drinks were light, refreshing, and perfectly cleansed the palate between bites. (ESCOBAR AVE.- take on a Martini & WINGED Ripper – take on a Nigiri )
The pickles? Absolute perfection ….. crunchy, tangy, with just the right kick to wake up your taste buds.

Now, the star of the show: BirdMan Chicken Sandwich 360…up to 720 (kickflip spicy). It’s everything you want …… balanced heat that builds in the back of your mouth but still lets every flavor shine through. Paired with duck fat fries that are crunchy, golden, and “large and in charge,” it’s comfort food elevated to art.

Heads up: parking is a bear …. seriously, don’t even try it. Park nearby, not bothering the neighbors and enjoy a short walk; the food’s worth the extra steps.

Chick & Hawk has officially landed in Encinitas, and if opening day is any sign, this spot’s going to be a local favorite fast.

OMGGG you have to try this new vibey spot – the love child of Tony Hawk and his personal chef in search of the most perfect fried chicken sandwich and 90s vibes. I actually went with the poké bowl and man, did it hit the spot. The ingredients are so fresh, everything is made in-house, and the “come back sauce” is delish. My husband raved about their birdman chicken sandwich. In lieu of the fries, we ordered the chips & dip. Carmelized French onions + crème fraîche with house-made chips. The service was excellent – everyone was so friendly and gave great recommendations!

We came to the restaurant because we heard that a local and renowned Chef Andrew Bachelier and pro skater and legend Tony Hawk opened up a chicken Sando shop in CA. It honestly didn’t disappoint. If you are looking for chill vibes with that kinda 90s nostalgia decor, then this is the move. It is a bit more expensive than going to other sit-down fast casual places, but the quality and detail put into the food is there. They have very cool and unique drinks there. Wanted to try the ecto-cooler, but ended up with a non-alcoholic beverage instead, which was locally owned Preston’s Ginger Beer. It was a yuzu raspberry flavor and was the perfect refreshing balance to my meal. My husband got the American Lager called Cheap Skate, which can only be found at the restaurant. It was so light, crisp and refreshing – not heavy like other American lagers. As my hubby said, “it’s not overpowering but stays in its lane” and that was a good balance to the strong flavors of the meal. We got the French Onion dip and homemade chips (recommended to get a spoon or fork to get to the bottom where the caramelized onions reside and mix with all to get the perfect bite of all layers on your chips), and that was great! We shared a Birdman sandwich, and it was enough for us with the fries. The sandwich had a juicy chicken breast and great breading coated with spices and hot sauce with a slaw. We went with the second highest spice level for our first try. It was enough to give a kick but not take away the flavors. We also got two half orders of the different fries to try regular and the one with spices, and both are amazing! They both came with comeback sauce, which was like a creamy aioli sauce. Warning: a half size may be enough to share between two people as two half sizes and us sharing a sandwich was too much for us/ended up bringing home leftovers. Also, take home boxes are compostable.

Special shout out to Martha for being an amazing and kind server and giving us recommendations and sharing about the journey of the menu and products/vendors they collab with.

Parking is what you expect for the area and the parking lot behind it is small, so street parking is available along Vulcan avenue that may just be easier to use and walk to the shop.

So good. So Leucadia. So well done.

I’m a local builder (West Coast Deck), so I notice craftsmanship and design everywhere I go — and Chick & Hawk absolutely blew me away. The place looks amazing. The woodwork, the metalwork, the layout — you can tell it was built with care and pride. Every detail feels solid, thoughtful, and custom.

And the vibe? 10/10. It’s got that laid-back Leucadia energy but still feels super polished. The music’s great, the staff is friendly, and the whole place just feels good to be in.

The food completely lives up to the hype — that chicken sandwich is crispy perfection, and everything on the menu feels like elevated comfort food done right.

Tony Hawk and the crew totally nailed it. You can tell this wasn’t just another restaurant opening — it’s a passion project. The kind of place you instantly want to make your spot.

Proud to have this kind of quality and craftsmanship right here in our neighborhood. Stoked to see Chick & Hawk become a Leucadia staple.

Meet up with friends for a birthday celebration. It was a perfect night for our group. The staff was friendly and hospitable. The food is bomb!! I had the fried chicken sandwich and fries. So delicious. Some of the best fries I’ve had. When I asked if they had a dessert for the birthday boy, they said they don’t have any. But then the owner came to our table and said he would hook us up. Shortly after, a dessert showed up with lit candles! Amazing. These are good people. Highly recommend this spot. We’ll be back
