That’s why I was so excited when a brand new Chick-fil-A opened close to my house. The location is amazing… but the experience has been the opposite of what you’d expect.
No matter if you come at 10am, noon, or 10pm, it consistently takes 30+ minutes to get through the line. It doesn’t seem to matter whether you mobile order or go through the regular drive-thru or the only person there, the process is slow either way. Mobile orders don’t seem prioritized, both lanes are NEVER open, and the staff doesn’t feel fully trained or coordinated yet.
I totally understand they’re brand new and there will be growing pains… but it honestly feels like it’s getting worse instead of better. At this point, I could literally drive to the other Chick-fil-A location in town, get my food faster, and be back home before I’d even make it through the line at the one that’s two minutes from my house. I really hope they get it together soon, because the location is so convenient but the wait time makes it hard to justify coming here.
I took my family to this Chick fil A location for dinner and fun at the play place. I have two boys, 6 & 4, who we took with us. They were playing in the play area while my wife and I ate and I monitored their play. Near the end of the meal- I suddenly had a stranger step out of the play room yelling loudly across the restaurant that he is going to “beat my ass” if my children touch his children again. I fully admit I did not see the event that triggered this outburst. From what I had seen by my monitoring our kids were playing with his kids in a keep away tag like game. It may have gotten rowdy, I don’t know I didn’t see, but I immediately assessed the situation and saw all three children happily playing together. No one was hurt, no one was crying. I didn’t care to ask any further questions- at this point my only goal was to remove my children and family away from this situation with an irrationally angry man who had just violently threatened me in public. This involved me entering the tiny play room, removing my children, and collecting their things, while this angry man stood beside me huffing and puffing like he was ready to attack me at the slightest provocation.
We promptly left. What has bothered me the most about this situation is that through it all no one ever stepped in to deescalate the situation. I know that staff were present and reacted to the outburst- the whole restaurant went so silent you could hear a pin drop upon the outburst- including servers walking around the room. Yet after probably 10 minutes of collecting things and getting out of there in fear for my families safety- not one person interjected in the situation.
Am I overreacting? Maybe. I think it was likely a matter of a protective parent who got upset by my kids rowdy play. I definitely get that- I didn’t see my kids behavior and I take full responsibility for that. I’m not saying my boys were not at fault- I really don’t know- but I do know with certainty that no one was hurt, these were *small children* playing, and that it resulted in an adult man physically threatening another adult man in a public situation. This man took a trivial affair and turned it into a serious one, where I was genuinely concerned for my families safety. His response to the situation was completely unfounded and arguably criminal. The fact that no one on staff came to assist in this scenario so we could at least separate ourselves from each other safely really bothered me. I don’t think you should be running a public restaurant with a children’s play area without an effective descalation plan in the event of a public dispute of this nature.
My first instinct is to not be so harsh with my review- I fully understand that this scenario was largely outside the control of the business. Yet, I still can’t get over the fact that I as a customer found myself in a situation where I felt genuinely concerned for my safety and the safety of my children and over the entire course of the event not one staff member even acknowledged what had been going on. And I want to reiterate that I am 100% certain that staff witnessed the event and I’m fairly certain that management was on duty at the time of the event as we witnessed them training other individuals earlier during our meal.
