Chick-fil-A, ordering ahead on the app is supposed to be faster, not slower.
I ordered a Diet Coke, lemonade, and 2 milkshakes through the drive through and that staff was patient and kind and very much appreciated them. Then the issues began. The food dispense at the drive through was taking a very long time. As I got closer to the front I began to understand why. There was a car up there with 2 employees talking to someone in the car for at least 5 minutes and 2 other employees, one of which was the “manager” Omar. 3 cars behind me got their food then finally the person passing out meals asked me to move forward so cars behind me could go. I did and still had to wait another 5+ minutes. When they finally came to the car they handed me a drink and 2 bags of food. I explained we just got 2 drinks and 2 milkshakes and no food. The kid said “oh my bad” then walked back in and took another 1-2 minutes. Then brought us out our drinks and milkshakes that were very clearly melted and said “have a good night”. There was no apology for the mix up, the wait, or the lack of service just handed my food and that was that.
I want to start with the fact that I’ve never sent back food at a restaurant and people can say what they think about that but it is genuinely the truth. I usually just eat it and don’t make a big deal about it and move on with my day. My stepdaughter had asked for a strawberry milkshake with 2 extra pumps of strawberry. The tag we received on our drinks even said this. As we were driving down the road we realized the shake was vanilla and this was where I turned around and headed back to the store. We originally arrived at Chick-fil-A around 8:50/9pm and I understand the dining room closes at 9 apparently. Regardless when we got back to the restaurant it was 9:29 and all doors were locked. I knocked on the door and a girl looked up at me from behind the counter, made no acknowledgement toward me, then turned around and walked away. The manager Omar was also at the register and said he was checking out a customer which is why he didn’t look up. At this point I knocked louder as I felt I was being ignored. Then the same girl looked at me with a snarl face, Omar still did not budge, and another worker from behind the register looked up at me. I smiled and waved toward my drink carrier and mouthed “this is messed up can you let me in”. No one came to the door and instead they all just ignored me. The man in line even turned and looked like he would open the door but it appeared from my end staff said no. After about another 2-3 minutes of me standing outside Omar finally came out and asked if he could help me. I said, “I am sorry I was loud but that encounter was very rude, I did not appreciate her looking at me and looking away then again giving me a snarl when I knocked louder.” He then told me that what I did by knocking louder “scared” his customer and that I was actually the rude person in this encounter. He called me rude twice to my face. I have worked in restaurants, retail, customer service, and health care and have always been told the same thing. No matter what the customer is always right, and I’ve been screamed at, cursed at, you name it and never once called someone rude. At this point I was floored. I then explained our entire experience and asked if he could just get us the correct order we’ve been waiting for on at this point for at least 20 minutes. He told me to go wait in my car and he would bring it out.
He eventually did and apologized for the behavior of staff and provided me with 2 free cards for a sandwich at that store.
I very much did not appreciate being called rude. I am glad to talk with anyone that would like to discuss this but frankly I will not be going back to that Chick-fil-A.
