I recently had the pleasure of visiting Chicago’s Number One Gyros located at 850 S Ironwood Dr, Apache Junction, AZ. While in the area to show a vacant space for a potential massage business, I felt a bit hungry and was delighted to discover this charming Chicago Hot Dog restaurant nearby.
I ordered a delicious gyro with fries and kindly requested the lady at the counter to prepare my fries without salt. She was incredibly friendly and happily obliged, frying a fresh batch just for me. I truly appreciated her willingness to accommodate my request.
During my visit, there was an unexpected moment when another customer choked on their food. Thankfully, another patron quickly called for help, and the fire department arrived in just five minutes. I am so grateful for the swift response of the firefighters, who handled the situation with professionalism and care.
Overall, my experience at Chicago’s Number One Gyros was filled with warmth and kindness, and I left feeling thankful for the delicious food and the attentive service.

When you’re looking for legit Chicago dog, this is the place! Nice owners that take great pride in their food and establishment, very clean!
The fries were perfectly cooked I’m talking a little crisp but soft inside and just the right amount of salt! I can see why they sell out of dogs because these are chef’s kiss!
You can’t get a decent fast food meal for this price! (Less than $8 for dog, fries, pickle spear)

I kept passing this place since before 2020 and finally stopped. Super friendly welcome. A few people in the place are eating on a Saturday at 5. Lots of open seating. I purchased a Chicago Dog and 2 gyros, all with fries. You definitely got a lot more meat than most places. Everything tasted great. The fries were a bit undercooked. I threw them in the air fryer. I really wanted some baklava, but they were out.

I had a craving for a gyro today so we went to our favorite gyro restaurant! It was excellent, along with onion rings! My husband had a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and he said it was very tasty! We brought baklava home and I’m sure it will be scrumptious!

What a great little hidden gem. Fantastic mom and pop run restaurant. Friendly staff, great food. We stopped in and had the gyro and fries, soulvaki. Both dishes were loaded with meat, and seasoned perfectly. Large enough portions you can share too. If your looking for some different fare, this is a great option!

I had been craving for a solid gyro in the East Valley and finally found one at Chicago #1 Gyros while I was in the area for lunch. The place was quiet but super friendly and they happily grilled the meat after slicing with barely any wait. The gyro tasted just how it should with a soft fresh pita a generous portion of meat and great flavor so I will definitely be back to try more.
