I went for lunch with high expectations because I’ve heard good things about Chicago Sushi. I mainly wanted the jewelry box because that’s mainly what attracted me to this restaurant. Fish tasted fresh, rice was nicely seasoned, but the salmon pieces looked like the shaved, broken end pieces that’s supposed to be chopped up for spicy salmon rolls. On top of that, I found 3 pieces of scale in the salmon bits. The tuna, eel, ikura, uni, and everything else in the box were delicious though. Just really disappointed with the salmon because of the strands of random parts of salmon and scales.
I also ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna. Tuna was fine but the crispy rice tasted like it was refried and fried too hard.
My husband ordered the pork cutlet curry. We didn’t see anywhere on the menu where this is supposed to be a cold curry served with lukewarm rice. Our server never came around to our table to see how we were doing, if we needed a refill on ice, or if we needed anything else. So I couldn’t even ask him about the cold curry and rice. The pork was either overcooked or just a poor cut because it was chewy.
Edamame was fine.
The server only came back around when he noticed we were done eating. He brought the check with him too but didn’t say much to us other than thank you for dining with us today.
Overall I would not go back based on the salmon quality and service we received.

Chicago Sushi is my favorite go to for a quick lunch or a nice dinner with my husband. My favorites are the caterpillar rolls and I didn’t get it this trip but I also like the Chirashi sushi. Appetizers are great too! It’s also really cute inside with fast service!

Food is made right in front of you and tastes fresh! They have a variety of drinks as well. Staff is kind and on top of service. The restaurant is tidy and has beautiful bright Asian art work on display. 🙂

We visited this restaurant and were absolutely delighted! We were pleasantly surprised that the chefs readily accommodated our request for halal ingredients. The sushi was simply amazing—fresh, tender, and perfectly balanced in flavor.
A special thanks to our waitress – Adelia for her attentiveness and kindness. She took the time to explain the ingredients in detail, helped us with our choices, and made sure we had a comfortable dining experience. The exceptional service and genuine care make this place truly special. We will definitely be coming back!

Great quality sushi with a large, unique menu. I recommend getting any or all of the hand rolls and the jewelry box. I do not recommend getting the scallop pasta; noodles were a bit soggy and the sauce was not as flavorful as I thought it would be. But everything else was very delicious!

Food was not great. I found an avocado sticker with the avocado skin on it in my salmon avocado roll. I understand accidents happen but it was sticking out of the piece, they should’ve seen it. My other roll wasn’t bad, the tempura Philadelphia, but it has avocado as well which made me cautious while eating and made the whole experience not as pleasant. Then the last roll to be brought out, the rainbow roll, just didn’t look good at all. It was sloppy and the fish did not look fresh. We ended up sending that one back and had them take it off our bill, which came out to $54 for 4 rolls. They did offer us a free mochi dessert but we declined. I would have liked a discount offer rather than a dessert. Also the bathrooms were not very clean. The service wasn’t terrible, but overall, I would not recommend eating here.

The food here was absolutely delicious my husband and I got combo meals, one with curry and one with Nigiri for 25 dollars each. We were taken care of very well and our waitress was really sweet! Would definitely come here again!

Updating my first review from when they opened back in August 2022! Food, Service, and Atmosphere ratings were not available then but now adding 5-stars all-around. Have gone a few times since then but came back this time for their updated menu. This spot has grown to offer more Sushi and Ramen options, as well as Beer and Japanese Cocktails, with Japanese cocktails and Sake at $8 which is not bad at all. All meal items are still made to order, of course. Added pictures here are their Spicy Tuna Nigiri, Spicy Salmon and Onion Nigiri, and Caterpillar Roll (shaped and looked to be a caterpillar!) which comes with some Takoyaki flakes. Nigiri orders come in 2pc orders. All very tasty and just enough in portions for a nice dinner meal. All orders still come with a small bowl of Miso. There is usually one server manning the entire spot which can seat up to about maybe 30-40 people(?), and they are very attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Will need to try their newly added options next time of Japanese Curry and Japanese Curry Ramen, Ramen de Pasta, as well as their Chriashi Sushi aka Jewelry Box.

Plenty of food ordered and excellent at best. Of course try their Sushi, but I highly recommend their Red Hot Chili Noodle! Will definitely be back!

We loved this place. Hand rolls were fun and made to order. The chef hands them to you and you should eat them immediately. The jewelry box seafood and rice was delicious and flavorful. We didn’t need any sauces for it because it was seasoned beautifully. The spicy noodles were good, but not spicy at all! I could have used more spice, I was expecting heat in this dish. Our server was attentive and friendly We will be back to try more menu items.
