Had the prime rib it was seasoned nice cook just right and was nice and tender with that said this tells the quality of the ribeye they are getting. I also tried the steak de bergo. Which was so tender and off chart good. Last all steak house should have salad bar and this Chicago speakeasy does it right.

When i was a teen waitress I worked in a restaurant that had the best steak de burgo. I’ve tried several places in my adult life but never found comparable deliciousness until tonight. So tender and full of flavor. Baked potatoes piping hot and salad bar definitely lives up to the hype. Nice cozy place, very good service.
They could use more parking but that’s the only thing I would change.

As always the salad bar is fantastic, but I do have to say I am a bit disappointed in my meal. I ordered a steak medium with fried shrimp. The shrimp came out grilled and the server, who was great, did end up bringing me out the correct shrimp. Then I went to cut into the steak and it was a hockey puck cooked well done. I’m usually not one to complain as I work in the industry, but I had to at least show her. I really thought I could just eat it so when she asked if I wanted it re-cooked, I did say no. I took a couple bites and it was almost inedible. I also didn’t eat the potatoes because they were for the steak so it was almost all left on the plate. I didn’t say anything because I figured she would do something to take an amount of off. I didn’t want it all removed because I did eat the shrimp, but my bill came out and nothing was taken off. I didn’t say anything, but I am a bit shocked to not even see a small percentage removed for having both of it messed up and not even able to eat it. Save yourself the trouble and stay away from their steaks.

My son’s birthday today, we’ve spent the week celebrating at restaurants we’d never been to. Today we hit the jackpot. First time here, everything was perfect. Steak, prime rib exactly the way we ordered it. Crystal, our server, was phenomenal at helping us make decisions. She knows what she’s talking about and it shows. Also such a warm and happy personality that shows she loves what she’s doing.I do have to add the salad bar is what’s most talked about, it lives up to it’s reputation.

I had heard good things about this place, so thought we would check it out. Had a bit of a wait to sit down, which I expected at 6:30 on a Saturday night. When we finally got sat down, we waited for what ended up being 15 minutes before any waitstaff came over to check on us. All while the two tables around us, got sat down, drinks ordered, and food ordered. When our waitress finally came over to check on us, she did bring water for everyone except our 2 year old. Instead of waiting to place our drink orders we just ordered our food right away because we didn’t know how long it would be before she came back. We did our trips to the salad bar and about 25 minutes after we had originally ordered we got a food. Which is totally acceptable, but we didn’t see our waitress Trudy H during that time and we all sat without drink refills the entire time. I ordered the prime rib, which I had heard good things about. I ordered it rare with the grilled onions. It came out at a medium well and quite tough. I was very disappointed. I had also ordered the loaded garlic mashed potatoes, they came out plain. So, I had to wait for a replacement. Finally after getting our food, our waitress decided to finally get us drink refills and clear our table of all the salad plates we had sitting at our table. So, we finally had room for our main course plates. My wife and daughter ordered the fettuccine alfredo with grilled shrimp. The sauce was cold and watery and the shrimp was lacking. For what this meal cost us and the mandatory 20% gratuity, I expected a lot better food and service. I wish we would have had one of the waitress waiting on the tables around us because they were well taken care of. We ended up having to ask another waitress for our bill, because ours never came back around. The atmosphere of this place was nice, though a little loud. Can’t say we’ll be back because of the poor service and disappointment in the food we ordered considering the price point.

Had a wonderful experience at Chicago Speakeasy. We were greeted + seated immediately, the place was fairly busy for a Monday lunch, so I knew it was going to be good!!

FOOD:
They have a huge menu w/ daily specials! I got the prime rib that comes with a complimentary plate to the salad bar (or unlimited for $2.99) + fries ($16.99).
My meat was cooked perfectly and it was delicious! I practically inhaled my meal.

DESSERT:
Their Oreo mousse at the salad bar was the perfect sweet treat. I would have used my single salad plate on that alone if I knew how good it was going to be.

SERVICE:
Service was quick and easy but nothing remarkable. Our waitress refilled our soft drinks without us having to ask and they cleared plates swiftly.

PARKING:
Big enough parking lot for the size of the restaurant & free!

Great atmosphere, meets top notch food, meets great service. Starting off with a wonderfully stocked salad bar that has amazing oreo fluff, then to the perfectly seasoned prime rib. My Old Fashion was a little stronger than I like but still good. My only overall complaint was the crowded parking. Still, if you are looking an affordable night out, this is one of the best places to go.

Came in to eat with our family while visiting and was told it would be a 3 hour wait for our group, we had 10. Other people were being sat fairly quickly and they did have open spaces. I felt like they had Prejudice against our family because we had children but that should not be a reason to not seat us. If you have a family or children I would recommend going elsewhere. The entire restaurant could have ate and left in 3 hours.

We went here tonight. I thought my prime rib was great! The salad bar is great too, but definitely does feel a bit cramped in there trying to go around it and knowing where to stand, but not a deal breaker by any means. Our waitress was…..I am not even sure how to say….off putting almost? She just didn’t come across as very warm at all and somewhat dismissive. It almost made me feel like this person I dont know was holding some kind of weird grudge against me, if that makes sense LOL. My husband asked her if they did anything for birthdays (like a dessert or something). She asked whose birthday it was and I said, “mine.” And she said okay and walked off. At that point I was still like 3/4 through eating. I think she either forgot about the birthday thing or maybe they dont do anything (totally fine), but was never brought up again….again, totally fine but we never got a cut and clear answer and I was honestly too nervous to ask again. At one point when I was boxing up my leftovers, I was trying de-escalate my son who was getting mouthy. She walked up in the middle of it. I was finishing talking to my kid realizing I didnt acknowledge her very fast, so I smiled and looked at her and said sorry. She said, “oh, okay.” And walked away. Have no idea why she came to the table. Probably just checking or something, but nothing was said, so I’m confused lol. Again, all these things arent necessarily abhorrent. It all just felt odd and off putting. Food was great though! We will be back, but I might request a different waitress if allowed. Maybe we just weren’t a great personality fit for each other or maybe she was just having a bad day. I just felt like our presence the whole time was an inconvenience to her. Oh well.
