Absolutely one star for food. I ordered the pork buns because the menu literally depicted three really nice looking pork buns for- basically $7 dollars. I only got ONE; and it looks absolutely nothing like the picture.

I was so confused and spoke to the waiter. The waiter spoke no English- only Spanish. No one staffed that night spoke English. I had to bring out google translate to explain how I felt that the transparency with the menu was not accurate.

This place may look like a nice establishment, but I did not like the food. The ramen tasted okay at best but just had a strange smell to it.

My family has dined at this Chicago Ramen location a couple of times within the last year and has always enjoyed the food. Our server on this visit was attentive and informative. We were dining at about 8.30 on a Thursday night, so the dining room was quiet (only one other table was in use).
My wife enjoyed the red miso pork ramen, and I liked the chicken ramen I selected.
The food here is well prepared and it seems very fresh. We have two quibbles: the restrooms were grimy and that may sometimes be an indicator of the kitchen cleanliness. Also, when a restaurant’s specialty (and focus, really) is on serving soup dishes, then the restaurant owes its customers proper equipment for their dining enjoyment. This means providing spoons as well as forks and chop sticks. It also mean providing large, double-ply napkins, so customers don’t spatter their clothing with broth. No matter how delicious the soup may be–and it IS very tasty at Chicago Ramen Mundelein–I don’t really want to wear it home.

To close on a positive note, we were happy to read the notice on the cover of the menu, advising diners of the increased cost of eggs (see photo below).

Will we visit Chicago Ramen Mundelein again? Probably, if we’re in the neighborhood. I hope they have bigger, more “soup-friendly” napkins!

This past early April marked the very first time trying a Chicago Ramen location in general and Mundelein which is the closest location to my house in Beach Park was obviously most ideal.

The authentic ramen & gyoza are delicious here and immediately after stepping in here automatically became a time machine for me. I had the joy of living in Japan for nearly 7.5 years from June ’80- Nov ’87 as a navy brat.

Authentic ramen is a way of life in Nippon and many train stations at least major stations have a ramen stop. Japan is slightly smaller than the state of Montana in land but there are 10’s & thousands of ramen venues spread throughout. They do ramen well here along with other familiar Japanese eats & beverages.

Absolutely love the aesthetic of this venue and kudos to the interior decorators. Clean dining space, friendly service and great food at fair prices. Hope for years of boomin’ business for the owner(s).

Overall, I had a nice experience, but there were a couple of small things that could be improved. The karaage was juicy, though I personally think it would’ve been even better if the coating was a bit crispier. The ramen is naturally on the saltier side, similar to what you’d find in Japan, so adding a little water helps if it tastes too salty. Also, if you visit in the evening, just note that ordering and payment are done through a QR code.

71 for TRASH!!! Ordered three ramens and shishito peppers. Not sure how this place considers itself ramen. For starters there are only pictures on their menu with no descriptions. My egg tasted rotten and is NOT soft boiled. The waitress when told my egg isn’t soft boiled looked at me like I was crazy. The other two in my party said the same thing about their eggs. Third, the noodles in every dish were different. One was spaghetti like the other two were like fettuccini. Fourth, look at the amount of grease in the spaghetti like noodles. Fifth, miso ramen consistency WAS CURRY. Thick and disturbing. This was a disgrace to the ramen world.

Awful, the noodles were not cooked right they were still raw and sticky why are they rubbery. And the broth, what is going on as well with the sushi why does it taste like ketchup. Did not have good taste at all, as soon as I had tried the sushi it was over with it I thought maybe the ramen would justify it no. It was somehow worst. The first time I had came here was so good I loved it and this was my second time but now I see and have a reason to not come back. The food was awful nothing wrong with the server she was so sweet but it was the food. Get better cooks, cooks who care what they put out because this was honestly just a lot of words.

Chicago ramen is one of my favorite ramen places in the city, I usually go to the Des plaines location, but this location is almost as good. The spicy red miso is thick and luscious the noodles are thick (like linguine) and the homemade chashu is tender and flavorful. I also appreciate the fact that the prices are extremely reasonable compared to many other ramen places in town. The restaurant is new, like other reviewers have noted the floors are a bit sticky for some unknown reason. I found the service to be spotty since the manager is nice, but the servers seem disinterested in the customers.

The sushi and the shrimp tempura were good but the noodles had a bland taste, not very good. I am going to try another location before I completely give up on them. I have heard a lot of good stuff about this restaurant, but this location unfortunately was not so good!

Cute restaurant and good prices. I had the Tsukemen w/egg. It was delicious. The broth for dipping your noodles in was very flavorful. And who doesn’t love a ramen egg that’s jammy! The table comes with condiments. And you can choose between using chopsticks and silverware. The staff were nice and offered recommendations. The food was very filling.

Tastes like Chicago Ramen! I am a more frequent patron to the location near O’Hare, so it was a nice surprise to find a location in Mundelien!

Food was tasty! I ordered a White Miso Ramen with an Egg, it was tasty. With flavorful broth and a pinch of seaweed seasoning, it was a great and hearty meal.
