Stopped by Chicago Dog today and it was so good! The Chicago Dog was juicy and loaded with fresh toppings with a fluffy poppyseed bun…yum. I also got a tamale pie with red and green chile (Christmas), which was outstanding as well. As a Santa Fe local, I don’t say that lightly. Quick service, friendly staff — I can’t wait to go back.

I’ve been a fan of Vienna Beef since I was a kid. Happy to see the Vienna Beef umbrellas in Santa Fe driving by for years. Finally made a stop, it was walk up and quick enough. The Santa Fe hot dog wasn’t what I expected but the green Chile was spicy. I also ordered a Frito pie and it was one of the best I ever had. Real New Mexico red Chile and ground beef. Happy I made the stop.

I love Chicago style hot dogs, and this is the best place to get them! I moved here recently from Denver, and I was really missing my favorite Chicago dog place. This place filled that need, although I do miss they don’t have homemade french fries. Hint hint!

Both kid and dog friendly. Small free parking lot on the side. Nice employees. But it’s all about rec dogs and theirs are great!

The Chicago Dog was pretty good. I am happy. Was an unusual dog, the beef was good. But the toppings were super cold. Cold as ice water but not ice. Was a soggy bun. But not too too bad. Tiny place. So you gotta be in and out. Staff was fine. For what it was. I was fairly happy for a hotdog, which I normally don’t eat much of. I’d say if you’re around and need a quick bite. I got my food fast.

As a Midwest native, I was intrigued by the “Chicago” in the name, but the experience diverged significantly from my expectations.

The ambiance is straightforward: a simple hot dog stand with a few picnic tables for outdoor dining. Cleanliness was adequate, standard for a quick-service establishment. Service was efficient, as expected for a takeout-only spot, and the wait time for my order was a mere five minutes.

I ordered a couple of Santa Fe Dogs, which come standard with green chile, cheese, and onions. I was asked if I wanted them half or fully loaded, and I opted for the fully loaded version. Regrettably, this was a mistake. The generous portion of green chile made them excessively wet and nearly impossible to eat without making a mess. While the hot dogs themselves tasted fine, and the green chile was undeniably flavorful, the excessive moisture detracted from the experience. I should have gone with the 1/2 loaded.

One surprising omission was the lack of fries. Any Chicago hot dog establishment worth its salt offers fries, often included with the dog. This omission was a notable disappointment.

The staff was friendly and efficient, and the small parking lot was convenient. The proximity to a pizza-by-the-slice place might be a plus for some, but I found it irrelevant to my hot dog experience.

Overall, Chicago Dog Express missed the mark. While the flavors were present, the execution was lacking. If I found myself in Santa Fe again, I would likely explore other dining options.

Great place to pop by for a quick hot dog — and so many choices! Went for the Santa Fe Dog and the cheese and green chile didn’t disappoint! Friendly folks and shady tables help, too!

Fantastic food, amazing prices, great friendly customer service. A little tough sitting on cement benches outside in the cold, but the experience is worth it. Lots of parking in a lot nearby.

This establishment is one of the top places for a frito pie in Santa Fe. The chile is spicy and delicious. The prices are reasonable and the service is fast. I love sitting outside in downtown Santa Fe and enoying my frito pie. I’ve been eating here for years and highly recommend it.
