The steak was tender and had flavor. The fries was seasoned with olive oil and parsley with parmesan cheese. There were two types of lamb chops one which cost more than the other and the explanation was flavor however I could have gotten the cheaper ones I did not taste any difference from any other lamb chop. The broccoli was seasoned well. And we recieved a complimentary dessert due to the occasion. I love steak houses and this is surely in the top 10. Although there are others slightly higher on my list I would return.

We were seated on the 2nd flr w/ no wait upon arrival. FYI: you will lose your reservation if you are more than 15 min late.
Alyssa was our server and she never missed a beat w/ our entire dinner. Thank you Alyssa for your phenomenal service.
We had a 5:30pm reservation and the place was pretty quiet but within the hour, it was packed. Somewhat noisy, but you can still have a conversation. We also happened to come during their 40th anniversary so all food ordered was 40% off. The restaurant itself had a classy old school Chicago mobster vibe. Great for a date night. Dim lighting. They do have a small lit candle on the dining table.
The complimentary bread was soft, hot and super fresh. We ordered the chopped salad. I was not a fan of their balsamic glaze dressing since I am not big on Parmesan, that specific salad usually comes w/ a parmesan garlic dressing. They do offer to plate the salad for you. Which was nice. My favorite dish was the lobster bisque soup. It came piping hot. I found it interesting and comical how they set an empty bowl in front of you, then they add literally one small tiny bite size piece of lobster, and then they pour the soup on top of that little lobster piece. Fresh cracked pepper is offered. The porterhouse steak arrived hot and they also sliced it for us. It was pretty good. Not as good as Bavette’s, Asador, or Gibson’s in my opinion. We also ordered the fries. Some of the fries I had were hard on the inside and some were soft, I suppose it was a mix of both fresh and old potatoes. We also ordered the carrot cake. We were only able to eat half of it, but we both enjoyed it. We didn’t receive any complimentary celebratory desserts, but they did give us a candle on our carrot cake plate and a chocolate decoration saying “happy anniversary” which was thoughtful. One other thing worth mentioning, one of the managers made sure to stop at every table asking how everyone’s dinner was-something you don’t see everywhere, and it showed they really care about the guest experience. We’ll definitely be back.
The atmosphere was difficult to enjoy because the table next to us was extremely loud, to the point where we could barely hear our own conversation. It took away from what should have been a relaxed dining experience.
I was also unhappy that our steaks were pre-cut to check for doneness. For a restaurant at this price point, I expect the kitchen to be confident in preparing steaks properly without needing to cut into them beforehand. I also prefer to cut my own steak when dining.
The service, however, was excellent. Our servers were respectful, attentive, and professional — they were truly the highlight of the visit.
As for the food, it was average at best. The steaks were underwhelming, and while the macaroni and cheese was enjoyable, even that could have been better. Overall, I would rate the food a 5/10. The quality simply does not justify the prices being charged.
There are many steakhouses that offer a much better dining experience and higher-quality food for the same or lower price. I left unsatisfied and would not return or recommend this restaurant.
We sat on the second floor. Only complaint would be the noise. We visited on a Saturday night so it was obviously busy. There were multiple parties and they were VERY loud plus the music made it very hard to talk and sometimes hear our server. Wish the restaurant did a little better to accommodate the noise somehow. Besides that very nice experience, yummy tasting food. We would visit again- maybe on a slower day.
The food was outstanding: perfectly cooked steaks, rich flavors, and top quality ingredients across the board. Everything we ordered was delicious and well presented.
What truly made the experience exceptional was Julio. His attention was amazing, professional, friendly, and genuinely attentive without ever being intrusive. He made us feel welcome, anticipated our needs, and ensured everything was perfect throughout the evening. Service like his truly elevates the entire dining experience.
Highly recommend Chicago Chop House if you’re looking for top-tier steak, classic Chicago charm, and outstanding service. Ask for Julio you won’t be disappointed!
