I’ve ordered dinner from this place twice, and as someone who truly loves Thai food, I’m always on the lookout for a solid Thai spot—and this one nailed it both times.

The first time, I ordered one of my go-to dishes: minced meat stir-fried with Thai basil, served over rice with a fried egg. It was executed perfectly—just the right level of spice, with that signature sizzling, smoky aroma from a well-seasoned wok. The portion size was generous enough to last me two meals.

I also ordered a cup of Tom Kha soup, which was absolutely perfect for a chilly New York night. It was aromatic, comforting, and beautifully balanced with coconut milk, mushrooms, basil, and classic Thai herbs. I’m always a fan of Tom Kha, and this version was spot on.

For my husband, we ordered chicken with cashews—one of his favorites—and he loved it. We also added Thai-style chicken wings, which turned out to be another highlight: crispy, fresh, well-seasoned, and mildly spicy without being overwhelming.

Overall, everything we ordered was consistently excellent. If you’re a Thai food lover, this place is definitely worth trying—I highly recommend it.

Chiangmai Diner & Bar offers a well-executed take on Thai cuisine. The meal flowed naturally from lighter starters to deeply flavored mains, and everything we tried showed care in both preparation and balance.

We began with the Assorted Appetizer Platter, which was an excellent introduction to familiar Thai and Thai-influenced starters. The curry puffs were a standout golden and flaky, filled with tender potato and a bit of cheese, making them rich and comforting without being heavy. Curry puffs are a popular Thai street snack influenced by Indian samosas, and these were done very well. The spring rolls were crisp and light, filled with cabbage and seasonal vegetables, keeping them fresh rather than greasy. The crab rangoons were smooth and creamy with perfectly balanced cream cheese filling, and the coconut shrimp were crispy with a subtle coconut sweetness. Every item felt properly executed, making the platter ideal for sharing.

My boyfriend ordered the Boat Noodle, a dish deeply rooted in Thai street food culture and traditionally sold from boats along Bangkok’s canals. Known for its dark, concentrated broth, this version stayed true to its origins. The Thai-style noodles were coated in a rich, savory base made with dark soy sauce and aromatics. The beef shank, stewed for about two hours, was tender and full of flavor. Bean sprouts, Chinese broccoli, cilantro, scallions, and Chinese celery added freshness and balance, cutting through the richness of the broth. It was bold, hearty, and deeply satisfying.

I ordered the Poh Tak Talay, which ended up being the highlight of the meal for me. Poh Tak is a traditional Thai herbal seafood soup, similar in spirit to tom yum but typically clearer and more herb-forward. The broth was hearty, warm, sour, and spicy perfectly balanced and incredibly comforting. It was built with fresh chilies, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, garlic, onions and aromatic herbs, and generously filled with shrimp, mussels, and squid, all cooked well and tasting fresh. Paired with rice, the soup soaking into the grains made it absolutely irresistible and deeply satisfying.

We also ordered a Thai iced tea, creamy and smoothly sweet, and a butterfly pea lychee soda, which was light, floral, and refreshing. Both drinks paired nicely with the meal and balanced out the stronger savory flavors.

Beyond the food, the service was excellent attentive, helpful, and genuinely kind, which made the experience feel welcoming from start to finish. As a small but appreciated detail, even the bathroom stood out clean, warm, and lightly scented, adding to the overall comfort of the space.

There’s clearly more on the menu worth exploring, and it’s a place I’ll definitely be coming back to.

Came back for the third time and had yet another wonderful experience. Bibi, our server was so welcoming and helpful with suggestions. We ended up ordering the spicy Thai basil fried rice and khao soi Chiangmai and lychee that ice teas and of course had to order mango sticky rice. Definitely the cozy meal I was craving for this perfect fall evening!

I had the Gaeng Hung Lay, and it was so delicious. The meat was perfectly tender, and the curry was deliciously flavorful without being too overwhelming. The rice and potatoes both pair well with the meat, and it was one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time! I also had the Moo Ping appetizer which was similarly delicious. The sauce paired well with the meat, which was obviously cooked with care. In addition to the food, I had the Doi Poi cocktail which was very light and refreshing. Our server was Foriain, and she was very kind and helpful. We came for a late lunch on a Saturday, so it was not crazy busy but a very good vibe with quick, attentive service. 10/10 food, drink, and service!

Came here on a Monday evening. Service staff was so lovely. Great vibe inside. We ordered the wings, zha Jein, prikking moo grob and the boat noodle. All OUTSTANDING. Zha Jein was my favorite. Such deep, complex flavors. Cannot wait to come back.

The food was excellent, the service was good. The only small complaint (if you can even call it that) is that their menu is laid out so randomly. It would be better if it was more obviously in order of courses. But no matter, we ordered plenty of food and drinks and ate well.

came here last week and already thinking about the next time I’m able to go back (or order for delivery)

we got:

* zaab wings which were perfectly fried and with a nice spice blend.
* The spicy basil fried rice which was literally the best fried rice I’ve ever had. insanely good. just really deliciously seasoned.
* The first item on the menu, forget the name but minced pork served with sticky rice and some other sides, also amazing, very well seasoned and a nice heat level without being too hot.
* The Tom Yum noodle which was also really good.
* And then coconut custard for dessert which was my GF’s highlight of the meal.

Everything was delicious, and the menu is absolutely massive, it was hard to decide what to order! Looking forward to coming back with more people so we can order and share more things. Cool spot, nice and spacious with a bar showing NBA games which is always a + for me.
