Chiang Rai is exactly why you don’t judge a book by its cover. You could easily walk by its generic-looking facade, but that would be such a shame indeed.

From the outside I wasn’t expecting much, but pop inside and i felt like I was transported to Thailand. Huge menu! Nice ambiance! Food was delicious. Tried a few dishes and all great.

It gets busy quick and almost lived up to the hype. Steeet parking can be annoying and if youll probably have to wait for a bit before you’re seated.

This is our new favorite Thai food spot. Such a gem very authentic, the atmosphere and staff are amazing. The food was flavorful and even though it was busy it didn’t take too long. We are more than happy about having given this place a try.

The Michelin guide doesn’t lie. This is a terrific little unassuming spot off of Anaheim. Parking is a real problem here and always has been, even when this was two other Thai restaurants in the past. The wait can be very long and the establishment is very small. We came early and only waited for five minutes before being seated, so I suggest coming when they open. I only managed to snap pictures of the appetizers, but the Midnight Chicken was really good, as was the spicy Dry Khao Soi and curry. I will definitely be returning in the future.

This spot just got recommended by the Michelin guide! What a great restaurant! We stopped here after a day is antiquing in Long Beach. It’s a cute little spot that you wouldn’t necessarily pick by looking at the outside. But the food is amazing! We had the Roti with yellow curry app. It was super flavorful and the friend flatbread was crispy and warm. The curry sauce was divine. Also had the pineapple fried rice and Khao Soi with Sai Uao. This is my favorite new Thai restaurant in Long Beach. Must try!

There are at least half dozen top-notch Thai food joints in South LB worth recommending. But last night was very special. Finally tried Chiang Rai after being burned by the other 2 or 3 names on the windows since May’s closed (sigh) 4 or 5 years ago. WORTH THE WAIT! The popularity has obviously bloomed since opening over a year ago.

Definitely recommend the Khao soi and would order it if I go again. The pad kee mao wasn’t as spicy as I was hoping but it was all right. Service was fast and we were seated pretty quickly on a Tuesday evening.

Although seating is usually prompt, it’s best to remain patient while ordering due to the limited staff, who are always amicable. It’s worth noting that the restaurant allows patrons to bring their own wine.
