Chez Michel is just a handful of restaurants in Creemore and though it is a small cute town. The restaurant itself has a nice interior and a decent menu of items. The food is good but it is nothing astounding. There was some delay from order to receiving the food which was unfortunate for us.

Amazing experience at Chez Michel! The onion soup and mushroom cream soup were delicious, and the warm brie was a great start. Steak frites and Liver Lyonnaise were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Finished with my favorite dessert, lemon posset—absolutely divine! Big thanks to Sam for the wonderful service. Cozy ambiance and outstanding food all around. Highly recommend!

On a recent trip through Ontario, we had the pleasure of discovering Chez Michel, a well-established and charming French restaurant in the heart of Creemore. From the moment we stepped inside, the cozy, authentic French atmosphere promised a delightful culinary experience.

We began our meal with a couple of classic appetizers. The Brie appetizer was a generous and satisfying portion for two, served with berries and olives. While its sweet and sour profile was enjoyable, we found ourselves wishing for more distinctive, seasonal flavours to truly make it pop. 8/10

The French onion soup was a true highlight—it was rich and deeply flavourful, with a savory depth that was incredibly comforting. My only minor wish was for a slightly more generous layer of melted cheese. 9/10

The main courses, however, were absolutely outstanding. The steak frites was cooked to perfection, with a tender texture and a delicious smoky flavour that permeated the well-seasoned meat. The peppercorn cream sauce was exquisite, and the real magic happened when the crispy frites soaked it all up. 10/10

The mushroom Bourguignon was equally impressive and unique. Made with a medley of different mushrooms, it had an incredibly earthy flavour that was reminiscent of walking into a forest after a rain, with subtle notes of pine. It was a truly inventive and memorable dish, perfectly complemented by the expertly prepared garlic mashed potatoes. 9/10

As for dessert, we chose the chocolate cake and found it to be a bit of a departure from the high quality of the main courses, as it tasted mass-produced. We left wishing we had ordered the crème brûlée instead. 6/10

The service was cordial, but we felt there were some small details that could have enhanced the experience. Our side plates were not cleared away, and during a neighboring table’s order, our server had their back to us. While these are not major issues, it’s the little things that can truly elevate a good dining experience to a great one.

Despite these minor points, our overall visit to Chez Michel was excellent. The quality and inventiveness of the food, especially the main courses, made for a truly memorable meal. We would absolutely keep this spot on our list and look forward to revisiting it on our next trip.

I wish I took a better picture – and more pics! Dereck was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. He made the night more special for a birthday celebration !
After a failed attempt by a different restaurant we previously visited for steak frites, we knew we had to come back here. And the chef didn’t disappoint! Caesar salad was so yummy. But the star of the show was the main. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The peppercorn sauce I could have licked the plate clean. Caramel carrot cheesecake was YUMMY!!!!
Definitely going to go back but it will be hard to venture away from steak frites and try something else.

Stumbled upon this lovely French restaurant while on the hunt for artisanal chocolate today! Chef Winston’s salad is like no other salad I’ve ever tried. Infused balsamic meets infused EVOO plus a dalliance with smoked Gouda and pomegranate equals guaranteed return visits soon! I hymn’d and ha’d over whether to get the every mushroom cream of mushroom soup and this salad. I’m so glad that I went with the salad. I heard the ladies across the aisle going on about the cream of mushroom soup…almost deliciously moaning! I had to have it too. I asked our lovely server to please package some for my husband and me and for our favourite next door neighbours. I just tasted it upon my arrival back home now. IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLE!!! The flavours are layered, present and delicious. Texture is luxurious and obviously made with love. Now moving onto my mussels – fresh, delightful and every single mussel was enjoyed. Every single sip of and dip of focaccia in the broth was as well. My steak frites made the trifecta of a perfect three course meal complete! Chef is not afraid of a little bit of fat and my steak was grilled to an exact medium. What I really loved and appreciated was that the green peppercorn sauce was light, stuck to my slices and most of all, allowed the meat to shine and be the star. My husband’s and Ruth’s Chris’ are my favourite steaks and I rarely order steak at restaurants but I would most definitely order Chez Michel’s Steak Frites again! Smiles and passion from both front of the house and Chef Winston. So happy that it was lunch time when I arrived in Creemore. Can’t wait to return with my husband.

Smoked salmon + caper cream cheese + scrambled eggs on fresh focaccia ✨
Paired with rich, cheesy French onion soup and the prettiest Wasaga Sunset Mocktail (cranberry, lemonade, peach purée, sprite).

Every bite at Chez Michel Restaurant was pure gourmet joy — flavors on point, ambiance cozy yet elegant, and a chef who clearly cooks with love.

Capped our day off in Creemore at Chez Michel. Looked like they were just opening, but we were immediately greeted by the friendliest of waiters—pardon me, servers. Young guy, but seasoned beyond his years. He made the whole experience that much more.

We just had a couple of snacks and a half-litre of wine. He explained the specials—food was OK. That said, given what this town already is—and what it’s clearly on the cusp of becoming—it might be time for the kitchen to level up just a bit. That’s all I’ll say for today.

Also appreciated the wine being served in a boccalino. For those who don’t know what that is, look at my image or look it up—it’s a little ceramic wine jug, often used in parts of Europe. I once worked at a place in Edmonton called Boccalino, so it hit a soft spot. This one was likely made locally. I wanted to snafu it—but didn’t. Could’ve asked if they sold them. Would’ve bought one if I had. Next time.

Came to this lovely little restaurant while biking with friends. We were seated inside due to table in patio couldn’t accommodate 6 of us. Ambience was great with small town charm, we sat basically beside the kitchen door, only table that could seat 6 people. Food was pretty good, price was a bit on the expensive side compare to quality of food, I ordered a French onion soup and a small appetizer portion Cesar salad which came up to $29tax+gratuity, if I added a main it would be well over $60, which is a bit pricy IMO for lunch, but overall with attentive service I would still recommend this restaurant for a lazy Sunday lunch.
