Every meal we have ever had at Chez Max has always been fantastic! This is a super great place to have a romantic dinner. There is a cozy fireplace, low lighting, and candles. The servers and the owner Brian go above and beyond to make each meal memorable. The restaurant is themed to be a French chalet that has been broken up into intimate rooms.

We had a lovely early dinner before going to the altria to see Hamilton. The fresh baguette was wonderful. We also tried the Duck a L’orange, the seafood crepes and the special salmon topped with crab and buerre blanc sauce. All delicious. The wait staff was very helpful and the attentive. We definitely see why this is a local favorite!

Brian and the team always do a phenomenal job. We’ve been there many times but last night we tried the bar menu and it was off the charts. The French dip and the burger were amazing so whether you’re fine dining or going in for a light bite This was a fantastic evening! We look forward to doing it again soon

I’m having a hard time with this review, fundamentally this restaurant is all about the food. This restaurant is quite established it’s been there forever. I went there with a party of six and it was a real issue seating us together, the tables are just simply too small. We ordered for appetizers for the table and between that and our dinner it was roughly $650 with wone and cocktails. Cocktails will run you $9 to $14 a piece and they have quite an extensive selection of wine. I found the food to be good quality and presentation was on point for this type of restaurant. The service was decent.

We were very surprised at the bland, oily food and the state of disrepair of the restaurant. None of food had any type of seasoning or flavor. The filet mignon was cooked well but was very blah and flavorless. The trout special was “lemon garlic” seasoned but there wasn’t a hint of either. The green beans and potatoes were plainly cooked and just oily. The bathrooms were grimy and the ceiling tiles in the dining area were molded, water damaged and sagging. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly which was the only saving grace. We were highly disappointed in our anniversary dinner and wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

Well thought out menu, a good selection of entrees. I would give a five stars for the Lamb Chops, it was the best that I ever had. I thought they could made more effect on plating, salads and entrees could use a better presentation. It really didn’t matter too much as long as the food is food. I was really excited to try the Avocado & Brie Salad (sliced hass avocado lightly dressed and topped with broiled brie cheese and dried cranberries. Tossed in our house vinaigrette.) I was very disappointed with the salad, to say the least. Brie was dried and cold. Avocado and Brie were paired on a piece toast, all three did not go well together when it was cold. I could barely taste the dressing, salad was very bland. We loved the Tuna Tartare! The presentation, flavor, and freshness made this dish a perfect appetizer. The ahi tuna was very good quality tuna, combined with olive oil, lemon, caper, and shallot; each bite melted in my mouth with a satisfying smile. I normally rate five stars for restaurants with decent food, but felt that the standards should be higher for the fine dining restaurant. Service can be improved. We waited over 20 minutes (or could be longer) for our salads after quickly devoured the Tuna Tartare. Also waited quite awhile with dirty plates sitting in front of us before Ryan stopped by our table again. We watched the hostess cleaned and changed five table cloth around us. I might sound negative, but we really did have a great experience. Really enjoyed our dinner, other than the salad. Chez Max is a great restaurant, I can see ourselves become a regular here. I am certain every entree will exceed your expectations.

Aaah I want to love this place. Sadly the food wasn’t up to expectation. Frozen fish filets that were basically inedible—mushy sides…metallic tasting soups…I had hoped it would be a better standard based on previous experience but it just let us down. I love the ambiance and the service but the food can’t keep me coming back.
