Going back for sure ❤️
It wasn’t busy, which added to the relaxation aspect alongside the lovely location & views. The barman certainly knows how to make awesome cocktails,+ the waiting staff were great too. Very reasonable pricing too. = well recommended
Wines are of the lesser selection, dog water is more appealing.
A new restaurant has opened in the Port Louis Marina: Chez Louis. Expectations were high, as the restaurant aims to enter Grenada’s fine dining scene. But can they live up to these ambitions?
The location is nothing short of stunning, offering a breathtaking view of St. George’s. We were fortunate that no superyachts were docked, allowing us to fully enjoy the scenery. Chez Louis has opted for an “Ibiza” style design, complete with an infinity pool. The decor is tastefully executed and visually impressive.
Service and Hospitality
The service, however, was somewhat disappointing. Despite having a reservation and being the only guests in the restaurant at the time, no one came to greet us upon arrival or guide us to our table. This lack of attention made us feel unwelcome, especially after experiencing such warm and hospitable vibes the day before.
The Food
We started with the grilled cheese and tempura shrimp appetizers. The grilled cheese was enjoyable but could have been grilled a bit longer to develop a richer flavor. The tempura shrimp, on the other hand, was delicious and comes highly recommended.
For the main course, we chose the tuna tartare, which is technically listed as a starter. Its fresh and well-balanced flavors were a hit. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the grilled shrimp. Priced at 100 EC dollars, we expected more. The dish consisted of just two large shrimp, buttered and grilled slightly too long, resulting in a sour, slightly bitter aftertaste. Side dishes had to be ordered separately. We shared our feedback with the staff, as we believe this dish could be significantly improved.
We skipped dessert because we were hoping for ice cream, which wasn’t on the menu.
Conclusion
Chez Louis undoubtedly has the location and ambition to become one of Grenada’s top restaurants, but there’s still room for improvement. The menu needs a review to ensure better value for money, and additional training for the staff could enhance the overall guest experience.
We recognize that our visit was just a snapshot in time, so we plan to return and reassess in the future. For now, we were torn between a 3- or 4-star review. Ultimately, we’re giving them 4 stars because we believe in Chez Louis’ potential and sincerely hope they can achieve their goals.
