Chez Elles is a very quaint, cozy and romantic venue out of Brick Lane. Really love the decor and attention to detail.
The service was friendly and correct, they even offered us to provide to try two reds they were testing for the restaurant.
Food came quite quickly and it was a pleasant atmosphere.
Having said that, I found it extremely pricey for what it was.
25 pounds for mussels and fries?
1kgs mussels will cost 6 pounds at a good fishmonger, and potatoes how much? Yet the portion I got was ridiculously small for the price.
Snails were tasteless.
Souffle wasn’t bad but not wow.
Again, I found the food very average for the price.

You don’t usually think of French food when you think of Brick Lane, but this cosy little spot really stands out. For starters we had garlic butter snails, and French onion soup – the snails were ultra garlicky and the sturdy bread was perfect for mopping up the residual butter. The French onion soup was better than what I had in Paris, sweet and caramelised, the velvety broth had a deep beefy flavour, with a nice creaminess from the comte – this was super decadent and tasty.

The steak was cooked beautifully to a perfect medium rare, but those frites were the secret star of the dish – crispy (even after 15 mins) and not at all greasy. It was served with a mustardy leafy salad which helped cut through the richness. Really good quality and value steak frites – L’entrecote who?

Ended on a pistachio Creme brûlée which was lovely also, a nice nuttiness from the pistachio which just lingered in the background. Next time we’ll try the tarte tatin if it’s on the menu!

Service is warm and efficient, lovely people working here.

This is a small cosy and intimate restaurant. Pink and red candles and heart-shaped mirrors. Very good if you are dialling with a partner but if you are dining with a group of people or just a friend could leave you feeling a little bit like a gooseberry. The food that is offered on the menu is cooked very well and you can tell they use very good ingredients very good quality all round. There is not a huge selection of meals on the menu compared to other French restaurants that I’ve been but this is probably more authentic and what they served was very good. There’s enough here for everyone maybe not so much vegetarians but there are a couple of options. The music in the background was very good not too loud but nice.I had the souffle and my friend had escargots and steak tartare and as if that wasn’t enough a cheese souffle! There were a selection of desserts and they seem quite nice. The service was very efficient and fast and everything was served super duper hot. Thank you I would definitely like to return here

Great french food. We had an amazing birthday celebration. Frog Leg is tender and flavorful. I had the Duck confit and my friend ordered the steak. Both are great but the steak is better. We ordered crepes for dessert and we got offered a free ice cream for the birthday girl. What an authentic french experience.

Loved the ambience and music. We enjoyed our dinner – fries, the cod, cheese soufflé, french onion soup and chocolate mousse were stand out dishes for me. Lili and Louis were friendly – we enjoyed their service. We will back again!

I love that place ! It was our second time in Chez Elles. I think now it’s a place where we want to go with my colleagues each time were in London. I usually don’t eat french food in my own country (as I’m french) but this restaurant is really really good. And their french fries are the best I ever had! I recommended!
