Best restaurant we’ve eaten at during our visit to France so far. We had the ribeye which was quite large and the pork shoulder which was a smaller serving size but tasted wonderful. The Paris Brest dessert was surprisingly good as well. The interior of the restaurant was very picturesque, and if you eat outside, you get to have a view of the Chateau de Amboise across the street. The servers knew English and were extremely welcoming and attentive.

Good restaurant just underneath the Royal Chateau.
We got a seat quickly and had their menu of the day. Food was good quality and the waiters were lovely.

Unfortunately not great. The food is rather expensive for what you get. Neither the pork nor the veal is special, comparably small portions, really a tourist place. However, the wine was great and the service very attentive and spoke proper English, although sometimes trying a bit too hard.
Overall, it would be 3 stars if not for the snails.
I had them for starters and they tasted very well. However, afterwards I spent the whole night in the bathroom… We told our hotel and they confirmed we are not the first ones to get stomach problems from the snails.
This is unacceptable.

Wonderful lunch at a comfortable bistro facing the chateau. Ordered the specials mozzarella salad and navarin of lamb. Delicious. All of the plates on the other tables looked good too. Friendly staff. My server, Dominique, decided to photo bomb my selfie. Nice one, Dom ! Hilarious. I will always come back here.
Uh oh, late update. Decided to have dessert after all. A delicious meringue that eats like a pudding in a pool of pistachio cream. Inventive, delicious

Highly recommended. This is a fabulous small, dog friendly, restaurant with an excellent regular menu and specials board. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are delightful and very knowledgeable about food and wine. We had their special of roasted shoulder of porc with very special pommes dauphine and for dessert we had the blueberry tarte – divine. Great food, wine and people: we’ll be back!

Authentic French Bistro with Heart.
Located right on the main street, this charming bistro offers classic French dishes that are exceptionally well executed. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Despite its central location, it’s far from a tourist trap—just honest, local flavors done right. A fantastic choice for an authentic French dining experience.

This is a very busy spot so make sure to go when it first opens or you could be waiting a long time. We had the snails and devilled eggs to start, then the veal followed by choux for dessert. The staff are fantastic and do a great job. Not the best meal you’ll ever have, but it’s one of the better restaurants in Amboise.

In the middle of town is this efficient, busy spot serving classic bistro fare done extremely well. Think soupe a l’oignon, beef tartare, steak and frites, and an absolutely correct seasonal menu. Highest level of quality despite the apparent simplicity, attentive service, and the correct feel for such a place. Booking recommended.

I don’t usually write reviews but we had the best experience here, having the escargots and burrata for starters, and the veal kidneys with baked potatoes and prawn risotto for mains. the creme brulee was fantastic. the staff were so welcoming (and funny!) and gave great recommendations for wine pairings.

The best food in amboise. We had lunch here. One red wine. One whitenine. For entree we had the haddock fish in mushroom and perfectively cooked egg. It was amazing and tasty. For main I had the pork shoulder cooked for 10 hours and the most juiciest port shoulder that I have had. Just done. Not less not more and the burnt garlic and onion cooked in owned sauces. Most brilliant. My wife had the fish of the day with vegetables. It was Cod fish. But she just gave 6/10 because of the cod portion was very small and bit underwhelming flavour. But Overall a great place. Overall 8/10 may be 8.5/..just the small reduction for size of Cod and flavourful. Everything else was brilliant. Service was very friendly..
