However, he was very sweet. Could answer all the questions about the menu and was knowledgeable. We selected the Wednesday night date night. Must just be available on Wednesdays……
It was an appetizer, bottle of wine (we don’t usually drink), 2 entrees and a dessert for a set price. It seemed like a great way to try several things. The croquettes were delicious. Something I hadn’t ever had before. They were like a very high quality hush puppy. The entrée choices were mussels and shrimp, in a sauce with a piece of bread. The other dish was pork, with green beans, squash, onions and topped with micro greens. We got one of each to try. My meat was over cooked an tough. I seriously couldn’t cut it, it was like rubber. No steak knife provided, just a butter knife. My husband enjoyed his dish of mussels. after we ate, we waited about 30 minutes and our server came to tell us that “tonight, chef decided no dessert as the quality of food was greater”.
I must have looked shocked. But it comes with the meal…..right? He said usually, but unfortunately not tonight. I asked if we can just add a dessert on. It’s our anniversary and we would like to celebrate with some type of cake or dessert. He said sure, no problem. We waited another 20 minutes and he came back with our bill and apologized that there are no dessert options. He said he found nothing in the basement. What, the basement? We had a good laugh at that.
So…… nothing was made maybe? It’s not really that our meal was so high quality, they just didn’t have anything ready, just be honest with people! I felt badly. We had maybe 4 ounces between the two of us for the wine. The rest left as we don’t drink. Would have skipped the wine for the dessert happily. Dessert wasn’t an option however. My meat was over cooked in my dish, ate very little of it. But we still had the same bill……didn’t seem right.
Nope- not a fan. Won’t be back. Was a terrible choice for celebrating 20 years of marriage. The pink lights I had friends complain about when the visited were okay. They do change the color of things in the room. But I didn’t feel nausea or get a headache as one of my colleagues complained about.
There was a person playing the piano during dinner. It was very nice and older music. I didn’t know the titles or words to songs, but the sweet elderly couple next to us certainly did and enjoyed it very much.
Not a great experience for our a wedding anniversary, but it’s a risk when you try something new.
Overall classy ambiance, but unpretentious… and as a sweatshirt and jeans kind of guy, I appreciate that. Not cheap, but if you’re here for business and/or just want to treat yourself, it’s worth a visit.
First impression: I am glad this restaurant opened in Rochester, it is a welcome addition to the scene. We had a good time. The food was tasty, beautifully served and creative dishes. The atmosphere was romantic and had good lighting. The decor was OK, I think it is similar to the restaurant that was there before.
I am not able to point my finger to what was not perfect. I do give a fair amount of five stars. Will go there again and might update the review in the future.
The food has good flavor, but the price, atmosphere, and service are not worthwhile.
Some of the main issues I’ve experienced are:
1) timing: on our most recent visit, our beverages took more than 30 minutes to arrive. Then, food took more than an hour to arrive after ordering. On top of that, two of our four entrees arrived more than 10 minutes late meaning that half of our party had to sit and watch the other guests eat.
2) menu accuracy: there were numerous items on the menu that weren’t available and we weren’t informed until more than 30 minutes after we ordered them. This happened multiple times during our meal.
3) service: for a fine dining experience this service is not up to snuff. Throughout the evening, we were told excuse after excuse for why things weren’t ready or available, with the main one being that they were very busy. But, when we looked around, the restaurant was less than half full and they were telling all of the tables the same thing. In addition, while we were being told they were so busy, the chef came out and was walking around talking to the customers. At times this can be a nice gesture, but it felt odd when they said their kitchen was super backed up. Our waiter was kind, but forgot things over and over and we started strategizing on drink orders far in advance so that wouldn’t have to sit with an empty glass for 20 minutes between rounds.
For the money, I would save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.
