This is a very pretty restaurant. We were unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine and decided to give it a try. We got to the restaurant at 4:30 in the afternoon, half an hour after it opened. We were the only patrons in the restaurant for our entire visit. For some reason, even though we were the only ones there, the service was terrible. Although we explained that we were unfamiliar with the cuisine, our server was not particularly interested in guiding us through the menu or the ordering process. It took excruciatingly long between server visits with the one exception that our food was served quickly. Unfortunately, it was cold. Being unfamiliar with Ethiopian food, maybe it is supposed to be cold, but after reading other reviews, it seems that perhaps Ethiopian food is supposed to be served warm. When it came time to receive our check, we folded our napkins, put them on the table and waited for our server. As we were waiting, in the empty restaurant, at least three members of the staff were standing at the bar, speaking with one another. It was downright uncomfortable. We are sitting in an empty restaurant, clearly finished with our meal, and yet no one came to our table for over 20 minutes. We finally got our check by asking for it. We won’t be back to this restaurant, but we are excited to try Ethiopian food at a different restaurant, because as other reviews detail, Ethiopian food may be delicious!

We split the Deluxe Vegan Platter which was great value for money. You really can’t go wrong with that option. All the elements were flavorful and the meal is very filling and shareable between 2. I also had the Sambusa, but I wasn’t a fan. It was just too flaky for me and I wasn’t in love with the texture of the shell. Service was great.

Had a wonderful experience here with a large group, including multiple children. The food was delicious, and kids are now fans of Ethiopian food. There were also options like spaghetti for those that don’t like Ethiopian food.

Such a delicious place! We got carryout for a group of 6–everything was perfect, as ordered and still hot when we got home. The portions were incredible and the vegan options were so delicious. Family recommended we try there and we were certainly not disappointed. I recommend the vegan deluxe platter.

The Ethiopian food here is fine, you’ll find better in the county and definitely in DC but the service here is very lacking. Just not a great deal of concern for the customer experience. They don’t even bring out a wet hand towel to clean your hands before you eat with your hands, which is fairly typical for a cuisine you’re encouraged to eat with your hands. We were kept waiting for a while between visits and our appetizer (sambusas) came out cold and dry.

We were wanting to have Ethiopian and it’s nice to see they we didn’t have to go far from Bethesda. The Doro Wot is awesome and so is the short rib tibs (3rd on the menu) which may have been one of the best Ethiopian dishes I’ve had.

Great food and service at this location, found a vegetarian option which is always a plus, the waitress was very friendly and recommended dishes and suggested how we should eat and mix the food. I just wish the outside seating was better. The patio tables/seating wasn’t very clean.

Very bad service this time. We have eaten here 5/6 times over the last 2-3 years. Asked for spiciest lamb dish from the three lamb dishes on menu. Waitress suggested the spiciest one. Food came and I got a chicken dish instead of lamb. I have a egg allergy and the chicken dish had egg. She took it back and then when 15 minutes had gone by, we asked to have the lamb dish that still hadn’t come cancelled and she said she couldn’t because they had started making it. When the dish finally came out, we were done eating and when we tried it, it was sweet not spicy. We asked her to return it or credit it but she argued that this was a spicy dish that made people cry because it is so spicy. We asked her to take it back and credit us. She then said she didn’t have authority to credit it. We asked her who did. She said the manager was gone but we could come back tomorrow. We decided not to make a scene and just leave. We will never come back here again.
