Chen’s Shanghai delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. We began with the hot and sour soup, which was perfectly balanced, rich, tangy, and comforting.

The crystal shrimp dumplings were delicate and fresh, and the barbecue pork buns had that ideal mix of fluffy dough with a sweet and savory filling.

The Kung Pao chicken stood out with its bold flavor and just the right amount of heat, and lots of peanuts.

The braised pork in plum sauce was tender, but lacked bold flavors. This dish is not one that we would order again.

The service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole meal even better.

Overall, good food and hospitality. Chen’s Shanghai is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for Chinese cuisine in Shoreline.

We ordered from here on Christmas, and it was a five-star experience from beginning to end. We placed our order online, and it was ready exactly at the time we selected. Even though they were incredibly busy, everything was delicious, fresh, and extremely well-priced for how enormous the portions are.

We spent about $250 after tax and tip for pickup, and it easily fed eight people—with enough leftovers for my husband and me to enjoy huge plates the next day. Such a great value. I’m so excited we found this place and will definitely be ordering regularly!

I’ve been here twice. Everything we ordered was delicious and came at a very reasonable price. The dishes were flavorful but not overly oily, with just the right level of seasoning. Standouts for us were the stir-fried vegetables, braised pork ribs, and the comforting clay pot with tofu and pickled greens. 大煮干丝is my favorite, as we ordered it every time. It had a clean and balanced taste.

Amazing food. Basic decor but I’m there for the food so who cares. My favorite Chinese restaurant in the Seattle area and only 5 minutes from the Crest theatre. Eggplant with string beans a stand out.

Do not come here!

I followed one social media post and came here, but it turned out the post was just paid ads. I ordered a few dishes but all of them are unbearable. The noodles have no flavor, the baos are soggy and meat balls are clearly not fresh. None of them looks like the pictures.

There’s a reason why a Chinese restaurant has no Chinese people dining there.

The food suits my taste perfectly. Every dish is made with care, using fresh ingredients and tasting great. The environment is quiet and comfortable, great for gatherings. Service is attentive, they refill water and change plates actively. I will definitely come back.

We went here on a Sunday for lunch and we didn’t have to wait to get a table.

Parking: no parking on the lot, it’s mainly a pass through lot with only 2 space for cars. You need to park on the adjacent strip mall lot next door or at the goodwill parking lot across the street.

Menu is good and extensive. We ordered like 6-7 dishes and they were all pretty good. We like the shredded lamb chops, dry pot pork intestine, chili fried chicken, and dry string beans. We also ordered the fish in foil with garlic flavor and it was good but so and so. Fried rice and chow main was also good and kids like them. Rice is not included here so you have to order some white rice. Portion sizes are reasonable for the value. They serve tea and water here.

Only one person was taking the order and bringing the food. She is very kind and moves fast. On a busy day, it might be slower service if she is the only person.

Food overall comes quick so you won’t be too hungry before food comes out!

Overall, this place is a good addition to have in this area. They also have extensive menu which makes it desirable to come back several times to try something new! If you are in the area, give this place a try!

A small family-owned restaurant specialized in Shanghai food, offering some authentic dishes that are hard to find elsewhere in Seattle. I enjoyed the dishes that I ordered, taste good and serve fast. I’m overall happy with the food and service, for a small business like this. Hope it sticks around and continue bringing more diversity to the neighborhood! Will be back.

The Fish Fillet with Pickled Cabbage 酸菜魚 tastes excellent! It is full of favors with plenty of fish and veggies. My only suggestion is to use thick glass noodles instead of thin ones.

Had another great dinner… Everything is good… Portion size is generous

Initially, I was uncertain about the portion sizes and what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous servings provided for the price. The waitress was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout my visit.

Here is what I ordered:

– Chicken Fried Rice
– BBQ Pork Buns (2) – $4.99
– Roasted Tea Duck – $16.99
– Grandma’s Pork – $19.99

The total came to $70. I will definitely return when I am in the area.
