Average Chinese food, but the best I have found in Long Beach. Chen’s is a mainstay and stays open later than most restaurants in town.

Unfortunately, we were so hungry, we forgot to take pictures. We shared their make your own dish, with 4 choices. Went with Sweet and Sour Chicken, Egg Roll, BBQ Pork, and Pork Fried Rice. Also added Egg Flower Soup, Pot Stickers, and a slice of Blue Berry Swirl ice cream cake for dessert. We loved everything except the egg rolls. They were too thick with how they wrapped it. Great size of portions, definitely enough to share. The staff was really friendly. The place was decorated so nicely. Also very clean.

This is a very hard review for me. I am a huge supporter of small mom n pop restaurants, especially in small towns. But unfortunately, I have to agree with a lot of these bad reviews. My boyfriend and I have come to Long Beach a hand full if times so far and just love it here. We are always trying to eat at different restaurants to find the ones we like the best. Being the only actual Chinese restaurant in the area, I kind of had higher hopes. I tried to call in an order to go but was told “k, hold on” the phone was just put down on the counter I’m assuming and I waited for 10 minutes listening to them talk in the background. Tried calling a few more times, and it just went to voice-mail that was full. Went to the restaurant, still placing a to go order, was told the fried wonton in the pick 2/3/4 items list has no filling (just fyi). Only waited about 15 minutes for 3 mains and 2 rice dishes. Sweet n sour chicken, almond fried chicken, and general tso chicken were all the same fried pieces of chicken that were mostly the batter (literally close to 80+% batter) and the chicken was dry. Sauce smothered each dish, which made the breading very soggy and no longer had any kind of crunch from being fried. Wanted crispy fried Sesame chicken, but per the reviews said it didn’t have a sauce, which didn’t make sense, so we opted for almond fried chicken. The gravy was light colored instead of dark like we are used to, but it didn’t taste too terrible. The sweet n sour sauce was pretty basic and actually quite bland. The same goes for the general tso sauce, slight flavor, but no spice what so ever. The house special fried rice has nice big prawns, bbq pork, and chicken that seemed almost like it was canned or maybe had been sitting in some kind of liquid. But not a marinade because it had no flavor on its own. I preferred the flavor of the house fried rice(minus the chicken) with soy sauce compared to the pork fried rice with soy sauce, but my boyfriend preferred the pork one. I happen to be allergic to coconut, so I was u able to enjoy my fortune cookie at the end of my meal. The lady who answered the phone was the same lady who seemed to be working the front counter as well as wait on the main seating area so I had to wait some time to even place the order, but otherwise seemed nice just spread to thin I think. The lady who brought out our food, I assume, was the owner or maybe the owners wife. She was very nice and accommodating. But overall, it was quite unsatisfying and bad enough that we both decided not to finish the food. We do not recommend it, and we will not be coming back. We are going actually to try to find some birds to feed it to.

We were looking to get clam
Chowder from The Cove, but because they were closed for a private event, we decided on Chen’s and what a delight that turned out to be! We were seated fairly quickly. Ordered our food and we were very pleased with the quality ad taste of our meals. If you’re in Long Beach, you should stop in for some delicious Chinese food from Chen’s. You will not be disappointed.

In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king… This place is totally sufficient but in the lack of options it’s GREAT! The crispy sesame chicken is their best item and very delicious! Orange and lemon chicken are quite citrus-y but still really yummy and the fried rice is 10/10.
The staff is really nice and helpful as well,

Great and delicious tasting food until the repercussions!!
Pictured: mar po tofu.
We usually come here a lot in the past. But, this time, I think was the end all…. my family and I had really bad stomach pain and it resulted is horrible bathroom trips. (To put it lightly). My sister on the other hand, ate her leftover and it made her throw up.
I’ve never had food poisoning from this place before, but this was the worst case of it.

Food was great and we will be making this our go to for our Chinese food desires. Fast and friendly service with a smile. Clean and orderly with space for everyone. Good parking outside right off the main road. Pricing is great for portion size.

Their prices online aren’t accurate and much more expensive than what is listed online. Lady was rude when asked about it, saying that we must be looking at a different restaurant’s menu yet it was 100% their website and address listed. Heard another customer say the same thing while picking up our food. Food was actually horrible, the almond chicken tasted like manure which was very unsettling. Had other people get the same thing and said the same thing about the chicken. Only posting so others do not waste their money!!

Nice traditional Chinese food with great decor inside. We had a bit of everything from a few combination plates. My favorite was the pork fried rice and sweet & sour chicken. Egg flower soup was also very good.
