We were very pleasantly surprised by Chen’s Buffet! The one thing was the price: $19 a plate after tax. A little much for us. However, the food was actually top notch. Maybe because we want at 4:30 on a Friday, but the food was all fresh, tasty, hot, and flavorful. It is the best American-Chinese buffet of its kind I’ve ever been to. Highlights included the spicy chicken stick, the beef and broccoli, the fresh sushi, and the Mongolian pork. The fresh steamed dumplings and custard bun were also unexpected as well as tasty. Not everything was my favorite, but nothing except the stale rice krispy treat was actually bad. If you’re looking for an American Chinese buffet you’re really not going to get any better in the area!

We arrived with over an hour before closing on a Saturday night. There were only a few customers already dining at the time we arrived. We were coming from an all day event and had a large group of over 30 paying adult customers. The man at the counter willingly took our payment and seated is without any reference to the time of day or that the restaurant would soon be closing. Although many selections were only partially filled when we arrived, the restraunt did not prepare any more dishes while we were there. When some members of our party asked for more of a couple of dishes, they were told that the restraunt would be closing soon; nothing else was prepared! When I pay $38 plus tax, for two at a buffet, I expect to be able to eat any of the dishes that have been set out for the meal, not just the last few of the day.
I understand we arrived toward the end of the day, but there were more than thirty 30 hungry adults and to not make ANY more food, was unacceptable; especially when multiple customers made polite requests. This is SUPPOSED to be a BUFFET and yet I was unable to eat a serving of Sushi, General Tso, or egg rolls because there weren’t any left by the time I made it to the serving table. I now understand why they ask for payment as you enter, before you are fed! If a restraunt doesn’t want to make enough food to serve their customers, then they should not take their money at the door. I do not reccomend this restraunt, and will no longer give them my business.

Monday lunch.
Big, spacious, thoughtfully decorated dinning area.
Food was average in taste and freshness compared other buffetts. The wasabii was fake… or imitation? I am not sure what it was… it was not wasabii.
Soup was too salty… maybe sitting there too long?
A bit higher in $$$ than their competitors.
Maybe I will return on a weekend to see if there would be more choices.
This buffett has a lot of potential— convenient parking, convenient location, easy to locate. The inside is spacious and nice. I hope the owner puts some thoughts into buffett options and freshness. Bringhten up the inside a bit… it could be a great place!!

We always enjoy the experience. I can’t eat a lot at a time, so I order off the menu. There is no way I’d eat the $17.99 worth of dinner buffet. One dinner off the menu is enough for days. The options on the buffet are great, with something for everyone.

One of the better Chinese buffets I’ve been to. I absolutely enjoy the sweet shrimp and the peanut butter chicken. Every time I’ve been here, the food is always hot and fresh. Prices are reasonable too. I always ask to go to come here whenever I visit friends in West Bend.

The food was average. Notwithstanding average is not so bad. I enjoyed every bite. Rather than worry much about my star rating, know that I’d likely return if I wanted Americanized Chinese food. If you are looking for an atmosphere, forget it. It reminded me of a warn out dirty childrens playroom. You’ve likley seen that caked on grime that just can’t be wiped off/out anymore. The decore was that typical disingenion imitation Asian artsy garbage. Again, that wasn’t why I was there. I liked paying a few bucks and being able to gaze and over indulge without judgment. The staff looked warned down and out. The service was obligatory at best. FUN FACT, they made us pay up front. Lmao. I’ve never heard of that in a dine-in restaurant except for fast food franchises. The comfort-food taste, quiet empty dining hall, and relative respectable cost made the trip “ok” and even repeatable under the right circumstances.
