We were visiting Boston and googled this place. From outside it looked like an average take out place. We were craving South Indian food so we decided to try. And to our surprise food was amazing. We had Vada Sambhar, Podi Dosa, Spring Dosa and Uttapam. All the dishes were yum. Spices, flavor and taste so balanced. Portion size of sambhar and chutneys was perfect. Sambhar was like home made no extra oil and spices. Perfect eat out for breakfast. Must try if you are in Boston.

The food is incredible! This is my favorite Indian cuisine spot in Boston. The flavor is there, and everything tastes like comforting home-cooked food. I highly recommend, and makes for great leftovers too!

Wow, such a delicious find. Had heard about this new local gem and it did not disappoint. The flavors were amazing and the dishes well-prepared. Stopped by for early lunch and all tables were full by the time we left. Very clean, and although small, feels actually fairly spacious and still private enough for nice chats. We will be back! And with friends!

After having many transformative food experiences during my recent trip to South India, I was very excited to see many familiar items on the Chennai Eats menu. It was difficult to decide on just a couple of things to try — so many delicious-sounding things!
We got the Chettinadu chicken biryani, and it was delicious! Intensely spiced and flavored — probably one of my favorite biryani ever. It’s also huge and filling.
We also got the Andhra chili chicken. We were expecting a green chili paste sauce, but they explained that they don’t do that style since it’s too spicy. This was barely spicy (apparently we got it medium spicy which is the default), and didn’t taste like what we expected, but it was still really good! The boneless chicken is tender and the sauce is quite tasty.
The parotta was nice and layered and went great with the chicken curry. I also liked the rasmalai. I thought the solid pieces were a bit dense, but the sweet milky liquid was delicious.
There are many things I want to try from the menu — ghee roast and fish curry, to name a few — so I’ll definitely be back! It was pretty packed on a Saturday around 1:30pm, but we were able to get the one empty table.

We visited this spot very recently and absolutely loved the food! We had authentic tamilnadu style biryani and chicken kothu parotta, perfectly seasoned and served fresh. The meat was tender and juicy. Liked the Chicken 65 as well. Got some Chicken tikka masala and chicken 65 again to-go and the tikka masala simply blew my mind, perfect balance of sweet and sour; not to mention creamy. Spent close to $85 in total and I would say it’s great value for money considering the quality and taste. They can slightly increase the quantity but it’s still a decent portion size. The few cons are 1. Service (bit sloppy, took the order wrong the 1st time and fixed it later; we asked for the family table but they offered the 2-people table even though the restaurant was mostly empty) but the food was served rather quickly (in about 10-15 mins) 2. Ambiance – we get the area constraint but they can spruce things up a bit with some more decor and improve the overall look and feel 3. Definitely need more seating. Other than these cons, we loved this restaurant and had a wonderful experience with great food. Will definitely recommend !!

Today was my first time eating at Chennai. What a great new addition to Watertown. The food is made to order and excellent! Great portions for the price. The staff was welcoming and friendly! Kid friendly. Highly recommened’ can not wait to go back.
Came back for dinner. Ate inside and loved everything again! So delicious, my new fave!

Very mediocre food and disappointing south Indian food for a place named Chennai Eats
Got the following
Veg Noodles: I have no idea when will Indian restaurants stop adding peas to an Indo Chinese dish. Huge chunks of carrots made it worse
Kothu Parotha: the only decent food item
Again with a lot of peas and carrots
Looks like they boiled a whole lot of peas and carrots and added it to everything
Mysore Masala Dosa: The batter had very little or low salt. No mysore masala. It looked like a masala dosa with a bland masala
Chicken Chukka: Decent. Average flavors.
Overall disappointing.

The food was absolutely delicious! Idli is my go-to dish at South Indian restaurants, and their Podi Idli was incredibly soft – almost melting in my mouth. 10/10 recommend! The chickoo milkshake wasn’t my favorite, but my partner enjoyed it much more. Excited to return and try more dishes. It’s great to see a South Indian restaurant in Watertown!

Probably the best South Indian restaurant in Boston area. Filter coffee was very good. The sambhar was hot and delicious. My only complain was being a South Indian food lover, the sambhar served was very little. No complaints when it comes to the quality of food though.

We had a lovely lunch today at Chennai Eats- the Mysore Dosa was so crispy and flavourful and it comes with an amazing tomato chutney I had to ask for more of! Then we had Tadka Dal and an eggplant dish which were both delicious. The Dal was so comforting and had a lovely combination of spices.
We left very full and happy but I left my purse in the restaurant. As soon as I realized I turned around and the server was running in the cold to bring it to me! Such kind customer service it’s really appreciated.
We have been there a few times for lunch and every time it’s so yummy! Enjoy!
