Food is tasty and affordable, the staff are friendly, but the place is uncomfortably cold and only the South Indian dishes felt properly authentic.

The restaurant was very cold inside, so it was hard to sit comfortably without a jacket on.
The South Indian dishes were good and felt close to authentic, but the North Indian options did not taste very authentic.
Staff were polite and the service was good throughout the visit.
Prices were very reasonable, so it is a budget‑friendly place to eat.

Went in the evening and the food was really good and the servers were attentive. Would definitely go back again to try the breakfast / buffet

Went here as we wanted a specialist dosa place only to be disappointed. The masala was bland lacking salt and spices. Parts of the dosa were soft. The chutneys were tasteless. Much better dosa’s available in the Manchester area.

Disappointing Experience – Not Recommended

Don’t expect the same flavors you might find at other branches of Chennai Dosa. The food here was a letdown across the board.
• Prawns Biryani had an overpowering pudina (mint) flavor that didn’t work well – ★☆☆☆☆
• Kothu Parotta was bland and lacked the expected spices and texture – ★☆☆☆☆
• Special Chicken Curry (requested spicy) was anything but; the gravy was watery and tasted more like plain tomato sauce – ★☆☆☆☆
• Mutton Biryani was the only dish that was somewhat decent, but still not impressive – ★★★☆☆

Overall, the taste and quality were far below expectations. Would not recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic or flavorful South Indian food.

The food at the party was absolutely amazing! Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The variety catered to everyone’s taste from savory bites to delicious desserts, everything was a hit. Guests couldn’t stop complimenting the quality and taste. It truly made the celebration extra special. Highly recommend for anyone planning a party.

Chennai Dosa is a gem! The dosas were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside — especially the masala dosa, which was packed with flavor. The sambar and chutneys were fresh and full of that real homemade taste. Service was quick and friendly, and the staff made us feel right at home. Everything was clean, well-priced, and portions were generous. Whether you’re craving a full South Indian meal or just a good filter coffee, this place delivers every time. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be coming back!

Thats Me
I had a takeaway of one mixed topping Uttapam on 4 Nov 2025. When I opened it, I was most disappointed to see a burnt uttapam. It was unpalatable. I phoned the restaurant for a refund of £7.99, only to be told that the owner is in India and will be back tomorrow so I should call back then. I wasn’t able to call back the next day but I did call on 6 Nov 2025 and this time, I was told the owner will return from India next week but I should bring back the burnt uttapam and they will give me another one. How proposterous!I After much nonsensical argument, she took down my bank details so I thought she was going to refund the money. She said I wasn’t going to be refunded and again, she said I can bring back the burnt one and get another one!! Why did she take my bank details?
Awful experience with food, staff and service.

Absolutely amazing experience! The food was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and served hot and fresh. The outdoor catering food was also very delicious and elegant and well-organised, prompt delivery with warm and hot set up, good quantity and value for the money, they truly made our event unforgettable!

We ordered outdoor catering for ghee rice and chicken roast, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot on, and the portions were very generous. Everyone enjoyed the food, and it was a great experience overall

The standards have noticeably declined. The lamb biryani was more like pilau rice rather than an authentic biryani. The kothu parotta was decent, and the paper roast was good. However, the channa bhatura was disappointing—the channa was poorly prepared. All the chutneys were average at best, though the podi idly was a highlight. Chicken lollipop was also disappointing.

We also ordered masala tea, which was a complete waste of money—it was served cold. The salt lassi unexpectedly contained jeera, which was surprising considering how simple it is to make a basic lassi.

Service was equally disappointing. The waitress was uninterested and never checked on us after serving the food. Once our dishes arrived, she disappeared into the kitchen and was absent for a long time. This was on a Saturday, yet the restaurant wasn’t even busy, making the lack of service even more frustrating.

Out of all the Chennai Dosa branches, the Manchester location has been the worst. We regularly visit the London and Birmingham branches, which consistently deliver in both quality and value. Unfortunately, this one fell far below expectations.
