On our way to the mountains, we made a quick stop in Azusa at this cozy little spot serving authentic Oaxacan food, and wow, it did not disappoint! The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, recommending some of his favorite dishes. We trusted him, and every bite was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend their Memelas, and the Tlayulas! The Menudo Mixto was also delicious and can’t miss the Cafe de la olla!!!

I was missing Oaxaca and I’m so glad I found this place. Everyone is so nice, food was delicious, with generous portions and on the more affordable side. We all really enjoyed our food (we had mole, tlayudas and empanada as well as donuts and pan de yema). Highly recommend if you’re close to Azusa or even near by in the San Gabriel Valley area.

Azusa is not precisely known for its culinary offerings. Until Chelsy’s came along. A Oaxacan bakery/eatery with amazing “antojitos” to offer. The mole is made in-house and it is succulent. They serve another Oaxaqueño classic, barbacoa and you have the choice of goat or beef. Memelas, an indispensable staple was amazing, you know the dish is good when an animal protein is not essential to the value and taste of the dish.
The service is beyond friendly in true Oaxacan fashion.
Will definitely come back for their breakfast

Absolutely check out this place! It is definitely a smaller place, but the food is amazing! It is super authentic from the decor to the recipes they use. They got donuts, conchas, and some cafe de olla to go with it. I highly recommend trying this place out if you are ever in the area.

I had a fantastic experience here and ended up trying several different plates. Honestly, everything was really good. Everything is made fresh to order, which sets this place apart from the rest.

The mole was the star of the show. It had an exceptional flavor that was deep and perfectly balanced: not too sweet, not too spicy.
The chilaquiles were absolutely great! Exactly what you want them to be.
Enchiladas & Barbacoa were both delicious and well-prepared.

While the food was top-tier, the best part was the service. The staff is immensely friendly and kind, making the entire dining experience feel warm and welcoming. It’s rare to find a spot that nails both the kitchen and the hospitality so well. I would definitely return again!

I’m all for supporting small businesses in Azusa, so it pains me so much for writing this review for Chelsy’s.

I decided to drop by today since I’ve seen them open for a while and wanted to help support, but my gosh the food here is really awful. I ordered a caldo de res soup and a wet burrito. Both items were so incredibly bland and tasteless. The soup was completely disappointing, and it looks nothing like the photos they have on their website. I opened the container to discover only two large pieces of meat with no veggies and the soup tasted like beef oil with no salt or any seasoning. The wet burrito actually looked good and was smothered in sauce, but was equally bland. I don’t know if they just don’t use salt here but gosh everything tasted really awful with absolutely no flavor. The owners are really nice and friendly people, however I cannot recommend this kind of food to anyone. I feel like I wasted $28 and all I want to do is just throw everything I ordered away. Maybe they are more known for their donuts and baked goods, but their savory menu needs huge improvement.

Ordered the Barbacoa de Chivo and it was delicious. They also brought out some chips with mole and I will definitely be coming back for the chicken in mole next. Overall very good food and good service. I will definitely be coming back.

I had the chicken mole, and loved it! The mole was sweet and spicy. It tasted very authentic.
The owners were very friendly. There’s limited seating inside. Place is small, but kept clean.
I didn’t get to try the coffee and donuts, but I’ll definitely go back.
