All the way back in 1955, the four sons of an immigrant millworker decided to take a chance. They opened a restaurant on Cumberland’s bustling Mendon Road with nothing to their names other than a shared dream and vision – fresh and local ingredients, prompt and friendly service, all to be had at an unbeatable value. While times change, our values don’t. As a third generation, family owned and operated company, our food is still made fresh in our commissary 7 days a week and delivered to each of our locations daily . Same ingredients, same recipes, same classic food that Rhode Islanders have come to know and love since our grandfathers first opened our doors nearly 70 years ago!

All the Chelos locations are great, and Cranston is one of the best! Great food, staff, and bartenders. Food is hearty, fresh, and full servings at a fair price. Bar is fun and perfect location next to Garden City and not far from Park Theater. Highly recommend eating here and enjoying the friendly vibe. Lots of TVs for games and Keno too.

Great experience. The clam chowder was just right. I ordered the chicken pot pie with a salad and mash potatoes. The sides were fresh and tasted wonderful. The pot pie was okay as it seemed to have too much fat. I could taste that the recipe was probably not followed properly (if that makes sense). It would have been a 5 star meal if it wasn’t for the pot pie. The banana with berry pie is a must try. A local, told me that it is in season only. If it’s available, get it!

Overall, I had a great experience. The only thing I’d like to mention is that I ordered the lobster mac & cheese but received the buffalo chicken mac & cheese instead. I completely understand that mistakes can happen, especially when the place is busy. Once I received the correct order, I really enjoyed it—though I did find the lobster to be a bit overcooked for my taste.

You always know what you’re going to get at Chelo’s as far a service and quality is concerned. The only problem is having to make one decision from the plenty of amazing options on their menu on top of their awesome seasonal specials. They always have excellent drink options to pair with the seasonal cuisines. Desert is as good as anywhere. Perfect for anyone. Great bar for individual or couple drinks. Booths and tables for 4+ parties.

I dined in with a rather large party this evening and the staff was extremely patient and understanding.
I appreciate their being attentive with so much going on. There was a woman who took our orders and did not miss a beat. I unfortunately didn’t catch her name
However I did catch the other servers name. Ethan. He was a real good server. He rolled with the punches and I applaud him for being able to handle this crowd.

Tyler was our waiter and he was attentive our food was brought out hot He came and checked on us and everything and he was really nice. My food was really good and I was shocked to get a mini lemon meringue pie instead of just a slice What a treat! I was there to meet an old high school friend from 35 years ago

Had the seasonal special. The pan seared Cod. Flavor was excellent, however, too much hollandaise obscured the beautifully prepared dish. The roasted asparagus was not properly prepared. They did not remove the wood stem section which made it hard to eat. The appetizer special of crostini and raspberry honey balsamic ricotta dip was excellent . Banana berry pie delicious but a bit too much whipped cream and not enough fruit.

Visiting family in Providence… We went for a walk and stumbled on Chelos… delicious food…. I was surprised at the quality of the food… And the prices were amazing. Definitely recommend it.. wish they had one in Florida

You can’t beat Chelo’s Cranston location. The staff is always friendly, the food is always good, and they get it out fast so it is the perfect place to go for a quick sit-down lunch. Tanya is the best bartender in the state and always makes it an enjoyable dining experience.
