When we’re in the Monticello area we always enjoy dining at Chef’s. My husband says the fried catfish dinner is the best! Catfish filets are small pieces, seasoned and fried to perfection! Served with a side salad or coleslaw, your choice. Both are very good! Entrée also includes fries, hushpuppies, onion, tarter sauce to compliment this southern favorite! You will be waited on promptly by a friendly outgoing waitress. The dining area is usually a little cool, I do recommend taking a jacket. This is not a fast food restaurant, even though they serve your food promptly the times we have been here. We always enjoy dining at Chef’s and will be back on our next trip to Monticello.

Absolutely wonderful place! You know when you walk in your welcome. Its the kind of place that’s like one big family. Family cooking, dad’s telling stories everyone’s laughing telling this story or that… the environment is absolutely beautiful. I had the most amazing visit and breakfast with a friend in this unique little place. It is always hopping so definitely go in and check it out. They make everything from locally sourced foods, from what I hear…. Definitely amazing

Monticello does not have many places to eat. This café, which is located in a former gas station close to the Hampton Inn was absolutely wonderful. They make all their food from scratch the fresh asparagus so sweet and tasteful. You wanted to eat nothing but asparagus, but then your tongue got caught on the Parmesan crust on the chicken and you had to eat it all.
If you’re in Monticello at the Hampton Inn or wherever you definitely should stop at chefs Café they are open for breakfast lunch and dinner. For a small town, you can find no better café and what we found here and we have been traveling across country all the way from Montana to Florida.

Small town atmosphere with delicious truly homemade food. Their staff is ultra friendly and their menu doesn’t just stick to one type of food only. Since moving to town, this is probably our favorite sit-down restaurant

This place is such a great experience! The dining area is so comfortable and country style. The service is great. The food is amazing. My husband and I ate breakfast this morning and had plenty of both our plates left over. The omelet was massive. Compliments to the chef! It was a great breakfast and we will definitely be back soon!

I had lunch and ordered a reuben sandwich to go, which was so flavorful. But the bread was a little soggy on one side! I would go back for dinner

Pros: staff is very friendly and attentive, get your order right the forst time (most of the time), prices are decent, comfortable down to earth atmosphere and the sweet tea was good.
Cons: would appreciate it it was cleaner, lunch menu is too small (they need to combine lunch and dinner menu or combine all 3 menus so if you want an omelet for lunch or dinner you can), hamburger steak was probably the most over cooked and dry hamburger steak we have ever eaten and we have been all over the country, the fries were so over fried all I could taste was grease, the texas toast tasted like fish. We came here 2 years ago and the breakfast was pretty decent and dinner once which was satisfactory (not great but ok) so we have come here once in a while over the last 2 years. The quality of food has really gone downhill and menu has become smaller. I don’t think we will be back and I will not recommend this restaurant to people.
Again, best thing is the tea and the service.

They didn’t want us there. Soon as we walked up to the door, we just turned our Grill off. In a nasty way too you don’t have to treat people any all kind of way.
