So our group of 4 attended Foodie Fridays (make reservations early it fills up fast due to its popularity) & had an AMAZING experience. First of all it’s a nice open air dining room setting with a setup for 10 around the cooking area where chef Rob cooks right in front of you. We enjoyed meeting others and, chatting and enjoying the show chef Rob was putting on right in front of us. Quite literally he chopped, diced, sliced, fried, sautéed, blended, boiled, grilled and blow torched….yep that’s right blow torched… everything right in front of us! He even has micro greens growing right inside the restaurant and ran over to snip some for our salads. Doesn’t get any fresher than that. The food was so delicious and had such deep but balanced flavor combinations. He explained everything he was doing and serving and even told stories and jokes. He answered any question we had (I was interested in his knife sharpener) and was just really personable. We were also served by Maya Mike his sous chef, and Big Mike the overall room manager as well as a waitress who handled all our drinks. Everyone was just so friendly and they served us with kindness and efficiency a truly well oiled machine. Everything was absolutely top notch and delicious! Prices are a little higher than other places in Hopkins but nothing compared to US prices and a real bargain considered the 5 star meal we received. We were so lucky to be able to experience this and you should too.

Can we talk about how much I enjoyed my experience at Chef Rob’s? My group had the 7 course chef’s table experience and it was a phenomenal meal prepared with skill and flair, laughs, interesting wines, and happy full bellies. Come ready to eat great food and be merry and you will not be disappointed by what Chef Rob is dishing out at his 11-seat chefs table. We were blown away, and not just because he used a flamethrower. One in the group even said it was the best meal he ever had. Bravo to the chef!

Let’s start with the good. The food and drinks were excellent. I have a Tropical Wave and a Irish Man in Belize, the latter being the best drink of the week in Hopkins! I opted for 4-course Lobster dinner. I am personally a lobster bisque foodie and this was my least favorite of the four courses. It almost seemed water-based and I am so used to the base being creamy with a deep lobster flavor… It was good, but not great. Second course, was indeed great, lobster caeser salad… Mmm mmm good, definitely the best course! My chosen main dish was lobster fettuccine. I am not a big fan of fettuccine, but my wife was back at the hotel sick and she wanted fettuccine, so I got the lobster and she got a take home bag of fettuccine. The lobster was huge, at least a pound of meat on it, quite delicious. For dessert, I chose the red lime cheesecake, very good, not sure where the red comes from, possible some sort of berry. I was really hoping to get at the Chef’s Table, but the only day they have that open for singles or couples is on Friday and you need to reserve 72- hours in advance… So it was Friday, but no advanced call. It does look like a great experience. Chef Rob cooks a 7-course meal for the 10-place table -very cool, sad I missed the opportunity. Dining is partial inside and part on a deck, be sure to apply repellent on your legs if on the deck because the sand fleas below are aggressive and it itches a lot. View is great, right on the beach. Service was slow and honestly I think the bartender was thoroughly sauced. Prices are not as high as people say. The four course Lobster special was $135 BZD, so about $68 USD… Expensive for Hopkins, but for what it is, a pretty good deal.

We had heard this was the best place to eat in Hopkins. It is! From the time we arrived until the time we left, we felt as if the owners and staff knew us and treated us like family. We had lobster bisque, pineapple salad, Thai curry lobster and fresh catch, followed by delicious desserts. Shout out to Micah too! Highly recommend. Oh – and make a reservation – they fill up quickly!

Such a charming restaurant. You can tell the owners take pride in their business and love their customers! Reservations recommended but we showed up around 7pm and the staff made an effort to accommodate us. The food was excellent and the beach breeze was divine. A can’t miss meal in Hopkins!

Micah and Tish created a great atmosphere and service from the moment we walked in! The drinks were great, the service was prompt, and they made us feel at home.
We will definitely be coming by the next time we are here!

Only reservation available was late, but it was worth the wait! We had butter garlic lobster and surf and turf. Both were fabulous. The tenderloin was too my request, medium, and tender, the accompanying vegetables were fresh and crisp. Chocolate cake for dessert, delicious.

I felt so relaxed by the atmosphere host Micah Gentle managed to create. Micah provided a warm welcome and an attentive service that made sure I had everything I needed whilst providing me the space to unwind and enjoy. I’ve come away loving Belize more, not just the people but the expertly made delicious food. Chef Maya Mike delivered exceptional traditional, locally sourced food with a modern twist which was so exciting to taste.
If you are looking for a place to enjoy in Hopkins, or Belize, you need to try Chef Rob’s Gourmet Cafe as it won’t disappoint and the views from your table will keep everyone smiling.

Chef Rob’s Gourmet Cafe was one of our favorite dining experiences in Hopkins Village!
We were a party of five and initially couldn’t get in on a Friday because they were fully booked. Mike graciously encouraged us to come back the next evening and promised to try his best to fit us in — and he did! Even though they were fully booked again, we only had a short wait and were so appreciative of how accommodating and welcoming everyone was.
The food was phenomenal. We loved the savory soups, the fresh snapper (fish of the day), grass-fed beef with shrimp, pork chops, and delicious desserts. Everything was beautifully prepared and absolutely worth the wait.
We ended the evening meeting Chef “Maya Mike,” who was so friendly and welcoming. Huge thank you to Mike and Maya Mike for making our night so special.
Highly recommend!
