Mita’s is a tapas-style restaurant, a dining concept I’ve really enjoyed ever since being introduced to it at Jose Andres’ places. It’s the perfect way to eat because it offers the opportunity to sample a wide variety of flavors in one sitting.
The restaurant’s atmosphere is stunning—high ceilings, beautiful tile work, and a chic, upscale vibe that still feels very warm and inviting. It’s the perfect setting for a special night out.
The service matched the atmosphere; our server was patient and attentive, taking the time to explain the menu and to answer questions. We never felt rushed. The pace of the food was on point, so we could actually enjoy each dish as it arrived. Everything we tasted was incredibly fresh and well-prepared.
We started with cocktails and a cheese platter, followed by Tostones y Guacamole, Patatas Bravas, and Empanadas De Res Con Pique. The Bocadillos De Hamburguesa and the Salmón Real Salvaje were also standouts.
While the portions are quite good for tapas, make sure to save room for dessert. We tried the Pastel de Tres Leches and the Pastel de Almendras. Both were outstanding, though they are definitely shareable—one would have been plenty for two people, but we couldn’t resist trying both!
Overall, it was a flawless dining experience from start to finish.
Service – 2.5/5 -server was okay. Wish they would have been more engaging in terms of the menu since majority of us were new to the place.
Food-2.5/5
If you’ve been to Spain for tapas, this will be underwhelming for you. You pay for the james bean recognition but not for the quality of food. Proportion wise, flavor wise, nothing really special. They would recommend getting 2-3 ( cause imagine 8 people getting that is like 16-24 tapas) tapas per person which I guess ruins the experience of tapas which they emphasize in their menu- for sharing. Need to look on their portion and price. I guess I’ve expected more from a price standpoint. They serve tapas one after the other. Like again, how can you share when you serve tapas one by one (at least 20 minutes gap for each tapas). That paella is burnt. Not crispy underneath, but burnt and you wait for almost an hour to have that. The servers can be more enthusiastic i guess? They’re overselling too much asking you to get tapas but they can’t even explain to you what they’re serving. They might want to add portion size description for the aperitivos on the menu to help the customers better next time (cause let’s be honest, not all servers will go the extra mile). But the dessert menu is the best menu out of everything. Overall, it’s okay but not top tier considering the money you spent. I’m sure there are other tapas places you can get a better experience and price wise.
We made the mistake of not being very hungry, because everything was incredible and we wish we were able to try more.
We tried the white sangria, tostones y guacamole, jamón serrano, patatas bravas, and tacos de lengua. The tostones and tacos were my two favorites. Their flavors were well balanced and comforting.
Overall it was a very nice experience and it makes senses that they are a James Beard nominated restaurant.
Also, we got one of the later reservations (8:15) because that was all that was left two weeks out — but we really enjoyed that hour. When we arrived the room was a buzz with energy, and by the end it was slowing down and relaxing.
