The Northeastern hometown cuisine are characterized by Stewing, Marinating, and Grilling . The taste of the Northeastern dish is thick and with rough lines, and it is not rigidly adhered to details. It resembles the bold Northeastern people, full of savory taste. So it is not easy to taste this legendary hometown dish in most restaurants.

Amazing food, a friend ordered for us a head of time and it was absolutely amazing. They buy their food daily so the key is to order ahead of time. Everything is so fresh. The way they fry their food 10/10 can’t wait to go back. The mapo tofu and vnegar cabbage were my favorites. The ribs are right up there.

Totally obsessed with this place! The food is crazy good — all freshly made and super flavorful. Huge portions too!

The owners are so sweet and friendly, we had such a nice long chat with them. The restaurant is also really cute — so many pretty little decorations everywhere. You can tell they care about every detail.

Pro tip: call ahead if you can — it’s all cooked fresh, so ordering early helps. 10/10 would go again!

Extremely disappointed.

Spent almost $120 and got no rice, no utensils, nothing.
What’s confusing is that last time I ordered the same food, I didn’t leave any notes and rice was included. This time I paid more and got less. Makes no sense.

The food was bad.
The guobaorou was awful — greasy, hard, weird texture, and just unpleasant to eat. I honestly couldn’t finish it.
The pancake was clearly not fresh, dry and stiff, like it had been made a day or two ago.
The chicken and mushroom stew was very average. Flat flavor, no depth. I’ve had frozen food that tasted better.

For this price, this is unacceptable.
If you’re charging this much, at least get the basics right.
No rice, no utensils, bad food. That’s it.

Won’t be ordering again.

Fantastic authentic cuisine.. The dumplings and the dry pot chicken were fantastic. I would definitely recommend coming here an experience and some delicious delicacies. Sesame balls are also a great way to finish a great meal. very good prices for the portion size. The ambience is extravagant! would highly recommend

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch early in the day.
Walking in, we were the only customers, the atmosphere was nice, relaxed.
We were seated and handed menus quickly.
W we chose the beef fried rice, spicey noodles and the pan fried dumplings.
The portion sizes were very generous. We were checked on several times during our stay, water was always full and the gentleman was pleasant.
We both enjoyed our meals very much. We each took a decent amount of our food to go.
I really enjoyed the experience and will be back the next time that we are in town.

For such a delicious and authentic Chinese meal, this just can’t be beat. I don’t know why they were nearly empty on a Friday night because after one visit, we’re already discussing our next trip to Chef Gong and what we might try. The fries pork in scoop was unreal so delectable. Great recommendations from the server, too.

Note: Wish I took some of these photos before we ate some of the dish!

We had a family meal, and the server was very accommodating. The atmosphere was warm, peaceful, and stunning. I am surprised I never knew of this spot as a Lansing resident; it felt like a hidden gem. There are plenty of items to choose from on the menu, and it is very suitable for vegetarians, too. If you like spicy food, this restaurant has a fantastic selection of spicy dishes. I want to add that I loved the service and cleanliness of the restaurant. Thank you for having us!

The food was amazing!!!! There was only the owner in the house today. He was doing all the cooking and serving. It was incredible. He came to our table to check on us and we had a really nice chat. He learned his cooking from his dad. So cool. The food was excellent. It’s the best Northeast Chinese cuisine in MI! The sweet and sour pork specially was light, crunchy and flavorful. Great great dining experience!!

The food taste is fine, but the chicken was too dry from couple my past orders. The service is bad!!! For the price you charging, you need to provide equivalent service!!! The lady never came back ask us if we needed anything, she was not willing to bring take out boxes to us as the fact we have a lot of food left after we asked for it, we had to put food in the take out boxes ourselves as she refused to do it, basically we were self severed, she even didn’t bring us the bill instead of just the card machine and want us to pay. 20%tip paying for nothing. Owner- you need to hear your customer’s voice.

Just go there today. Very disappointed. It is the worst resturant that i ever visited. I ordered through phone and want to have online order and dine in because we will arrive at 8pm and it will close at 9pm. So we phone them at 7 20pm. The chef asked us to pay first and promised to start to cook and food will be ready. To ensure he can finish on time he refused several options and change one of the order of sweet and sour meat to crispy meat 锅包肉, so the total increased from 80 to 133. We do not want to risk delay so we accept all even he claim that he do not know how to cook chinese fried rice but can only cook fired rice with meat or egg. Anyway we paid upfront and tell him that we will arrive at 8pm. So after we arrived at 8pm which is Exactly what we said there is no food and only two other groups of people there. we waited for 20 minutes to see the fried rice and the 45 dollar crispy meat. Then he refuaed to offer rice and it will cost another 2 dollars. After both groups left and another 20 minutes he finally present us the rest two dishes which he claim very soon but end up cost one hour and forty minutes. what make it even worse is he treat us as if we owned him 500 bucks and he refuse to offer chair and spoons to us. for five people we end up with only three pairs of chopstic. I think even not 133 dollars but just 13.3 and i can get much better experience on any other place. again,it is the worst
Place that I ever go. I feel bad that I cannot give zero star. No body deserves that kind of mistreat.
