An excellent spot for fresh, well-executed Japanese cuisine. The sushi and sashimi at Chef Chen are beautifully prepared—clean cuts, fresh fish, and a clear respect for simplicity and quality.
Each plate is precise and balanced, allowing the freshness of the ingredients to shine without unnecessary distraction. The sushi rice is perfectly seasoned, and the sashimi is consistently fresh and delicately sliced.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with efficient, friendly service that complements the dining experience. Whether you’re a sushi purist or simply looking for reliable, high-quality Japanese food in Sea Point, Chef Chen delivers.
A dependable go-to for sushi and sashimi lovers. Highly recommended.
The beef wonton soup was the highlight for me. Every spoonful was comforting and full of flavor, like a gentle hug in a bowl. The vegetable salad was impressively large and incredibly refreshing, a perfect balance to the richness of the soup.
The shrimp tempura, while tasty, was a bit on the oily side and didn’t quite match the light, crisp batter I’m used to. Still, I found myself finishing it without hesitation. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes and quality.
The atmosphere was quiet, almost serene, and the owners were present, though they kept to themselves. I didn’t get the warm and fuzzy feeling you sometimes expect from a small, family-run place. Aside from the server, no one else really acknowledged me, which felt a little distant. That said, it might have just been the end of a long day.
Sushi slightly on the high end, but well worth it as ingredients are fresh and portions are generous. Best cucumber rolls.
Sushi was fresh and tasted great. I particularly liked the Wasabi because it is obviously natural, as opposed to the artificially flavored ones you find at other sushi places. You’ll pay a little more than at other other sushi restaurants, but I think it is worth it. Do yourself a favor, and go support Chef Chen at Seapoint.
I have supported this restaurant from the moment they opened there doors, until now. What i am angered upon is how the situation was dealt with, i just expected the 2 pieces to be replaced. Surely, not much to ask for, instead you dismissed me.
Not worth the value, quality is poor and service SHOCKING
