Really great service and good food. This restaurant was able to easily and quickly accommodate our larger party on short notice. The food was really good and the prices were reasonable. Kids loved the pizza. Portion for the Chicken Alfredo was really generous. Will definitely be back!

I love Checkerboards and until this past week, I never had a problem. My friend and I always get the loaded nachos. A full platter. Tuesday , the platter was only 1/2 full, practically no chips! I should have sent it back. It was a birthday lunch and I was so disappointed. The waitress did not offer to take them back. I spoke to the “cook” and his response was “ oh, so sorry. “

If it happens again, the food goes back!

Stopped in for lunch. Stuffed quahoags, burger, and pastrami wrap. Clams were tasty, burger was good (bit over cooked). Pastrami was good. Strong feeling it’s Sysco food. Service was ok. Friendly, a little forgetful, had to go to the bar to ask for water, mustard, and a to go container. First time for me here. It’s appears to be a local hangout, and I would guess consistent in the service and food.

First, I’d like to say, I forgot to make a review, but I went there with my kid and the lady with the short haircut with the red hair, looked at me up and down with a dirty look and kept going back-and-forth looking at me while I was sitting down with my child waiting for my food. There was a couple there lady and another lady older very older looking at me up from head to toe, rolling their eyes, I don’t understand, but I feel like this atmosphere was very heavy and disgusting towards me. I don’t know because I’m black or Latino cause I spoke Spanish, and it felt very unwelcoming, especially with the lady who kept walking by me as I was sitting there waiting for my food with my child and looking at me with discussed even when she walked to the other side of the restaurant, I saw her looking at me and I looked. She was looking at me again and when I was on the phone, I was telling my parents that I feel very uncomfortable because when I walked in, she didn’t approach me. She didn’t ask me if I needed anything or anything like that. She just looked at me like I was crazy and the gentlemen in the counter asked me in Spanish and as he’s doing that, she’s walking back-and-forth the whole entire time that I was there, she kept walking back-and-forth look at me like I was crazy and like why am I there or like if she should call ice or something? I Would never sit there or go there with my kids, family members friends to know that that’s the atmosphere. Meanwhile, they have Spanish workers there. And maybe someone wants to teach the lady with the red short haircut, older lady with the glasses how to do customer service and how not to sit there and keep walking back-and-forth because the customer is sitting down waiting for their food and looking at them like they shouldn’t be there I get a lot of racist vibe from that place. It was uncomfortable and disgusting.

I recently picked up my to-go order, which included a medium-well cheeseburger. Upon opening it, I noticed that there were no ketchup, napkins, utensils, or coleslaw included. Unfortunately, since I’m in the process of moving, I’ve had to dispose of many of my condiments. As a result, I wasn’t able to fully enjoy my burger and fries. This is the second time I’ve ordered from this location and both experiences have not met my expectations. I may need to reconsider ordering from here again in the future.

The vibes were off from the start, felt “eerie and outdated”. The place was overpriced, especially considering how bad the food was. It was honestly so unappetizing we debated whether it was even worth taking home. Ended up tossing the leftovers because they made the car smell awful. For the same money, we could’ve gone somewhere way better. Definitely not going back.

It was empty at lunch time which is not such a good sign but we tried it anyway. We had a meatball pasta that was so watered down and flavorless that even after adding salt and Parmesan I left my plate almost full and not even once the server asked if the food was good or why I would leave all the food in my plate. The service was poor for a restaurant that is empty, although the server claims it to be always full, so maybe I just went on a bad day.

The waitress we’ve gotten over and over is the rudest girl of all. The food isn’t amazing. Cares only for elderly people coming in. Ask me while I was checking out if I don’t believe in tipping even though I left cash on the table. I will never be coming back and I’ll also be making sure friends know about this! She was rude the other times we were there too! Can’t believe she represents this place. She wasn’t attentive and kept giving us side eye glance while we waited for food. The nerve she had to ask if I don’t believe in tipping and to throw our bill on the table and not come over and ask if we were all set. Bitchy moves! Never asked if we were all set. Just threw it down and never came back desert options weren’t even offered just wanted us to get out asap

I had a good meal of a chicken Parm sandwich but my husband was not pleased with the quality of his buffalo chicken sandwich. He said it was not a breast of chicken but seemed like frozen chicken tenders.
Fries were good and service is always great
