Cheba Hut is a toasted sub concept that has been curing munchies since its start in 1998. Founder Scott Jennings decided to showcase the harmony between great tasting food and … well, a very specific counter-culture. The menu features over 30 signature sub sandwiches, as well as a variety of Rice Krispy treats, salads and munchies. Most locations also offer craft beer bars that feature local beers from neighborhood breweries. We strive to be your go to late night food stop. What really sets Cheba Hut apart, though, can only be experienced in our shops. We combine homegrown food with real people in a relaxed environment. Escape the established.
Laid-back sandwich-shop chain for creative toasted subs, plus snacks & desserts.

We usually don’t visit this area since out of our way. We stopped by here after attending a competition in Fair Park. Even though navigating the street and parking is a challenge, we found our spot after a few turn.
We were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Since this is in Deep Ellum, we were a little intimidated by the neighborhood vibe. The over the counter stuff was courteous and professional. The manager stopped by to check on us and another staff came by to clear our table. Our sandwich was nicely toasted.
Keep on it.
Highly recommended and you are welcome here.

It was soooo good, I made it a point to go again (different location) just as good. I have made it a personal goal to try a different sandwich each visit. Definitely worth a try overall experience was amazing.

Great subs and I like that it has a bar. The bread is so soft. I like coming into deep ellum for the food. Parking is difficult but definitely worth it. Staff is courteous And they stay open late, which is awesome.

Really laid back, and chill environment. The food is always fresh and delicious. Made exactly how you want it every time. We go for the food, and stay for the drinks and people. This has become a nice “date night” spot for us. Keep up the great work!

Never been here! I don’t know why either. But I’m glad I did. Staff is friendly and helpful on deciding what to order. Better than a subway and has a full bar! Soft drinks usual but they got kool aid! And a few good flavors of tea! A must try you won’t regret it!! Come with the munchies!

Came into the restaurant and needed to use the restroom. I had a friend there waiting. So I was going to run in the bathroom and come and order which my friend already did so technically I was a paid customer with someone already present. I asked to use the restroom not knowing that the policy had changed because I live in Austin. I asked one of the employee’s “a gentleman” and he just looked at me without saying anything. I said again excuse me can I have the bathroom password… a female then responded stating that I needed to be a paying customer. I told her that I was… knowing that my friend was at the bar she then stated that the code is on the receipt. I told her I would get it from my friend, and she stated that I would not. She then told the bar tender not to allow me to order anything, and literally is standing at the bar just watching. Didn’t advise me to leave just would not allow me to be served. She then continued to attempt to badger me into what she thought would be an apology. I am not apologizing for using the restroom while black. Honestly these people here have always had a feeling of anti blackness unless you show some form of conforming to their mindsets or control. I have been to other locations and the business model is the same. If you are not edgy or metro with a hippy vibe don’t go here because we are not invited.
