this was my go to place for banh mi every week, but the owners are not friendly anymore like before. i like their bread and pate, and came for that today- willing to pay. i asked if i could buy extra daikon and carrots, they refused to sell me their daikon on the side. said yes and then made me stand there for 5 minutes and then said “no my boss said no” you lost my business of 3 years today! won’t be back again.

Lunch time. Lunch special sandwich with Korean steak with a coconut milk tea and a taro milk tea with boba. The staff was very kind and even made a few suggestions. It was very clean and organized inside. The menu was very easy to read. I had no problem ordering a sandwich. They also had jazz music on that a plus tbh.

I stopped by Che-Lo and ordered the Grilled Pork Bánh mì, which set me back nearly $10. That’s already pricier than I expected for a Bánh mì, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t justify the cost.

Food: The sandwich itself was a letdown. The portion size was noticeably small, especially for the price, and the bread was rock hard—more of a jaw workout than a pleasant bite. The grilled pork inside lacked both flavor and seasoning, leaving the whole sandwich feeling flat and uninspired. A Bánh mì should be vibrant, layered with freshness, herbs, and punchy flavors, but this one fell short.

Service: I ordered my sandwich to-go. While there were seats available for dining in, the overall interaction with staff was minimal and unmemorable—not rude, but not particularly warm or engaging either.

Ambiance: The space had seating, but nothing about the environment really stood out. It felt functional rather than inviting, which makes sense for a quick stop, but not somewhere I’d want to linger.

Value: This is where the biggest issue lies. At nearly $10 for a small, bland sandwich with tough bread, the value just isn’t there. Bánh mì is known for being both flavorful and affordable, but this version offered neither.

Overall, Che-Lo’s grilled pork Bánh mì didn’t hit the mark in taste, texture, or value. With so many other options out there that deliver on both flavor and authenticity, I wouldn’t return for this.

I really wanted to like this place but service was bad 🙁 I’ll try to give it another chance so I’ll update if that changes.

I came here a few years back and I loved it, however I recently came back and it was totally different.

I asked to make my own Che and the lady in the store told me they didn’t have young coconut. I said ok, and asked for something else. A few minutes later someone else (that is also Vietnamese) asked for a young coconut drink and she gave it to her. I didn’t say anything and proceed to pay. She said that because I’m paying with card it was a $1 fee, which usually most places is .10 or max .50 cents.

The drink was okay but the whole time I kept thinking how I wasn’t treated fairly.

I’ve had a horrible day and decided to try this place. I was served by a very wholesome asian lady. This is the only place where I honestly feel that staff are genuinely nice, every other place just wants tips and reviews. They made my day and I left with a smile.
I got the Korean steak sandwich with egg, hands down best sandwich I had in California. I had boba here many times and it was always fire.

If I could give Che-lo Sandwiches more than five stars, I would. This place isn’t just good—it’s a full-blown flavor experience that hits every note perfectly. From the moment you walk in, the warm aroma of freshly baked bread and sizzling meats wraps around you like a cozy blanket and tells you one thing: you’re in for something incredible.

Let’s talk sandwiches. Che-lo doesn’t just make sandwiches—they craft them like masterpieces. The bread is perfection: soft on the inside, perfectly toasted on the outside. But the real magic? The fillings. Every bite is stacked with juicy, tender meats, crisp fresh veggies, house-made sauces that burst with flavor, and just the right amount of spice or tang. It’s obvious everything is made with care, intention, and love.

The sandwiches, I swear, it changed my life. Every bite had that addictive balance of savory, tangy, crunchy, and creamy. I’ve been dreaming about it ever since.

What makes Che-lo stand out—besides the god-tier sandwiches—is the atmosphere and the people. The staff is genuinely kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. They remember your name, your favorite order, and always greet you with a smile. It feels less like a restaurant and more like a community.

In a world full of average, Che-lo Sandwiches is unforgettable. Whether you’re a die-hard foodie or just someone looking for a damn good meal, run—don’t walk—to Che-lo. It’s more than food. It’s happiness between two slices of bread.

My mom and I loved Che-lo!! HIGHLY recommend the Korean steak sandwich with fried egg! That, some halo halo, and we are SET! Some of the best halo halo I’ve had since returning from the Philippines! The staff is friendly and sweet while making delicious food and drinks! Definitely stop by if you’re in the area!

Today we were craving
for Mb2 chicken sandwich, the chicken was dry and dressing seems very light compared from before. Been coming to this place since the original owner, and even the new owner I still support and coming here until now. But lately the quality of the sandwich seems dry and doesn’t taste fresh. Otherwise the food and drinks still my favorite to go place.
