We had lunch at Chauncy today at their shared table d’hote experience. Myself and partner shared the long table with another couple and a group of four. We arrived a little early and were offered an amuse bouche with a glass of French champagne to assist our very pleasant stroll in the garden.

The food was just beautiful. Each of the six courses, was beautifully presented and delicious. The accompanying wines paired so well with each course.

Tess and Louis have created a very intimate dining experience. We felt like we were guests in their home (which it is!).

Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who cares about their food and who enjoys a long, slow enjoyable lunch experience.

Absolutely exquisite experience! Tess and Louis are rare gems – you feel instantly welcomed into their warm and whimsical world. I loved all the genius sans acool concoctions Tess passionately explained. Food was divine and every bite was thoughtful. Being at the Chefs Table for the long lunch, we could witness Louis calm and precise cooking.

While it is part of the program to have a midway break in their beautiful garden, we were also able to have our last two courses outside – this was wonderfully accommodating as I am heavily pregnant and needed the fresh air. I also appreciated that they were very kid friendly as this is hard to find amongst fine dining restaurants.

Would give 6 stars if I could – a remarkable dining experience you won’t forget!

Chauncy is a charming restaurant that celebrates fresh, local produce from the surrounding region and their very own garden. With a seasonal menu that’s both delicate and vibrant, every dish is a delightful discovery. The intimate setting accommodates just 14 guests, ensuring personalized attention from the talented chef and the incredible sommelier. This lovely couple goes above and beyond to create a truly memorable dining experience, transforming a lunch into something extraordinary. In Tessa’s own words, “the new Chauncy is absolutely the best!” Come and see for yourself; it’s a culinary journey you won’t want to miss!

My husband and I celebrated my birthday there last year.
What a gorgeous bistro in and out!
We had the seasonal set menu, everything was freshly made out of their garden. It was excellent.
The service was great too.
What an experience!
Would love to come back again sometime.

My dad bought a Chauncy gift voucher for my husband and I for our birthdays and I’m so glad he did. We had an amazing experience. The food was divine, with every dish a feast for the eyes and palate, the wines chosen by Tess beautifully matched every course, and the atmosphere was so warm and friendly. We didn’t want the lunch to end as it really was a very special experience and we look forward to returning. Thank you.

This restaurant is an absolutely amazing experience. If you are wanting to experience 5 star food over a long lunch with the most amazing wine pairing then do yourself a favour and book into Chauncy. The flavours are exceptional thanks to Louis the chef who is a master at flavour ! Tess is the hostess with the mistress and an award winning sommelier. What Tess doesn’t know about wines is not worth knowing . They also have their own veg garden to wander through half way through lunch with your glass of wine.
This is an absolute treat and we cannot wait to go back .

Very refined flavours – the autumn menu sings. The matched pairing of wine is worth the experience. Fantastic herb garden also finely manicured. Beautiful food in a fine environment- warm fire. Tess really knows her wine – the list is extensive the use of locally sourced ingredients is incredible.

The 3 hour culinary masterclass was unlike anything we have tried before. From arrival to departure the service and explanation of each aspect of the food and wine was seamlessly delivered. For me the highlight was the duck filled tortellini but there were new flavours and textures from start to finish. We chose the wine pairing menu and enjoyed every mouthful of food and wine. Treat yourselves to something special

Celebrated my birthday there recently and it was a fantastic experience. We were very well looked from the amazing menu put forth by Louis and his team in the kitchen, and the service by Tess with her team friendly and responsive waitstaff. Tess’ list of wines, both international and local, with some rare unicorn bottles is superb and also reasonably priced for a two chef hatted restaurant. Well worth the drive from Melbourne or wherever else in Victoria- but book well ahead!

We drove 2 hours to Chauncy, a countryside restaurant in Heathcote. When I stepped into the restaurant, I was stunned by the aesthetics of the interior, very demure and mindful. They served a 4 course seasonal menu which also included an appetiser, bread and butter, a platte cleanser and a small sweet treat not listed on it. Their flavours were humble yet sophisticated. Very well used of the seasonal produce and fresh from their garden. It was thoughtful to include a little wander around the garden before the second menu. The dishes may look small but we left with a happy tummy. They also have great wine selections. The whole experience was splendid. My only let down was their desserts which were not included in the set menu. The pastry of the tarte tartain was soggy and the creme brûlée was not creamy and silky. It is the best place to have a long lunch. Remember to spare at least 3-4 hours for the meal.
