Came here on a suggestion from someone else & had no idea what to expect!

We came on a Monday during lunch time and thankfully found a spot for parking! Small parking lot.

Found a table & ordered a lobster roll. Came out fast! Lobster roll was a 4/5 for me but still very delicious!

On a Monday, the place was busy but not packed so found a table in the shade easy. Lots of tables both in the sun & under the umbrellas!

Service was great, place was clean, tables wiped almost immediately after someone left. All staff was very attentive!

Heard the pie was good but didn’t grab any as we were just traveling through!

No idea this place was BYOB so saw lots of patrons with their own coolers of wine! Definitely doing that next time I come through!

All in all, great food, good service, cute place to sit on the water & eat for lunch!

I wanna start off with the number of things that I did enjoy about the Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier first, I thought that the set up was very cute and despite there only being a small parking lot there is plenty of space along the road and no one minds if you are there. They also had both covered and uncovered seating which was nice because we went on a warmer day. Also, they have a cute view of the water and plenty of tables to enjoy it by. Furthermore, I enjoyed the fact that they had a smaller menu it was easy to navigate, and the food came out quickly, and the staff was very friendly. Highlights of our meal were the bread bowl, corn, and blueberry pie. The bread tasted super fresh and was a great size for two people it also didn’t fall apart at all. They also give you a nice size piece of corn that was juicy. But in my opinion the real star was dessert, the pie crust was super good not dry at all even eaten cold this pie is awesome! I really wanted to enjoy the lobster roll but it wasn’t quite my taste, while I didn’t think that there was too much mayo I did find the bun to get a little moist because it’s not served with lettuce. In addition, the mayo seemed to be seasoned with MAYBE like celery seed seasoning which it gave it an overpowering taste making the lobster roll in my opinion too sweet. I also would’ve enjoyed having a few mor pieced of the tail or knuckles a lot of my roll was end pieces of claws which left the meat losing its texture and the meat to be less flavorful. Furthermore, very little was done with the bun. I do think that they give you a good portion and I enjoyed that it came with not only pickles but chips. Overall, I think that this place is in a great location, has great staff and a super cute setting if you are in the area and would still consider a stop in however, I’d recommend maybe optioning for a full lobster and the chowder unless you like sweeter cold lobster rolls.

Best steamed lobster we’ve had in Maine, super fresh and delicious. We also had the crab roll which had a generous serving of crab. We couldn’t help but get 2 desserts both the blueberry pie and double chocolate cheesecake were fantastic. The cheesecake was rich and decadent, while the blueberry pie was sweet and flaky.

We happened to drive by and the location drew us in. Parking lot was busy so thought it would be perfect, once we went down the ramp we began having doubts and should have stuck with our gut to go elsewhere. The layout was odd but we did really like the tables by the water you could watch geese and see boaters pull right up. I asked about the fish nuggets and onion rings- was told both are from frozen. That basically the only thing really fresh is the lobster and the clam chowder. And the girl at the desk seemed annoyed that I was asking about fresh/frozen. You order at a counter and they bring it out to you. I ordered the chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and my husband and daughter both got the $30 lobster roll. The chowder was fine, not much for clam in it but the bread was very good. The lobster rolls however were the worst we have ever had, and I don’t think I’d ever really had a bad lobster roll. They are served on a cheep grocery store hamburger roll which was dry. The lobster rolls seemed to be missing tail meat and had an off taste to it, almost like a dill or other seasoning was added. They were served with generic plain potato chips and as my daughter pointed out didn’t even come with a lemon wedge which would have been nice. I would say unless you are just looking for only an actual lobster with a view to save your money and go elsewhere, WAY better lobster rolls out there for $30. Also if you want a drink bring change because if you want something other than iced tea, lemonade, or water you would have to get it from a vending machine- odd.

Fabulous location right on the pier on a beautiful creek, right at sunset. Should have been perfect. But the lobster rolls were meager, rounded ice cream scoops of dry, grayish, apparently defrosted lobster, with lackluster mayo on dry hamburger buns. Very odd. We could see fresh lobster being chopped in the back, beautiful whole lobsters coming out. Our fellow diner has been coming to this legendary place for decades. No idea what happened to it.

Beautiful place with great food!! The setting is so nice and it’s a great place to stop when going to other places in Kittery. We got the chili dog, clam chowder, fried halibut bites and fries and corn on the cob – all extremely delicious!

Only giving 3 stars for the food because of the lobster roll(s) which was 75% if the cost of our food. I’ve come here many times as a child but we just picked up lobsters to cook. As a kid I don’t remember noticing much of what we as adults notice or pick up on so this is just based on a recent visit as an adult.

I will start by saying they serve warm dry meat chopped lobster on a hamburger roll not an hotdog or brioche long roll an hamburger roll……and miracle whip is put on one side of the bun only. We asked for mayo but apparently here that means miracle whip. We were taking it to go (3hours drive away) then found this out once home or we would have addressed it there. The packaging they gave us was a zip loc bag with the sandwiches and chips all inside so chips were all soggy when we got home.

We got chowder and ate it there which was pretty good and their onion rings were good. Their staff is wonderful. You order/pay ant the window and tell them your table number and they bring the food as it’s ready. Had we eaten there we would have had the appetizers way after the meal. Our onion rings came out 20 minutes after the soup and lobster rolls.

I cannot say enough about this part……..there is almost zero parking, 10-15 car max in the tiny lot. We drove around the block 5 times before finding street parking and if we didn’t drive 3 hours to come here we would have just left. You run the risk of parking (street parking) pretty far on a busy day and a busy road the only place to park you have to cross the street. So if you have a hard time with distances you might want to get dropped off. There are no sidewalks or places to push a wheelchair or walk with assisted aides. The other thing is there is a series of ramps one very steep that you have to go down/up to reach the restaurant as it’s literally overhanging Chauncey creek.

Bring cash if you want to get drinks because they come out of a machine and they are $3 each or bring your own as we did. If you are a dill pickle person ask them for side order of pickles. Idk what kind they use but they are really good.

They have seating out of the sun in sort of shade under this open airy deck but an easy 85 degree day there was a breeze and we had wished we had a seat in the sun. They have tons of seating and the line is always long but goes fast. They do have an outdoor wash station. They have the lobster shack so you can pick out live lobsters from. We did see a lot of people with backpacks shaped like coolers to bring home their lobsters too. They also have restrooms. One note we wanted to mention was whole place was kept very clean, no trash anywhere and unoccupied tables were all clean and ready the second someone left.

Location is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Secluded and calm, relatively quiet crowd enjoying food at the large amount of picnic tables along the river.

BYOB is a cute option that I haven’t seen for a while and speaks to the easy going attitude of everyone dining as well as those working there. They sure were friendly folk all around.

The food is on the pricey side for what you can get anywhere in Maine. Live lobster, for example, was at least twice the price of almost anywhere else in the immediate area. However, there is one immediately noticeable difference with their lobsters; they were lively and aggressive in their holding tanks – unlike most of the “dormant” live lobsters I’ve seen at any of the other markets.

I didn’t order much as this was just a short pitstop. Oysters were not anything to write about. Lobster roll came in a hamburger bun with a side of crisps. While the portions were small, I really enjoyed what I received. Unlike some of the other reviews here, the lobster was fresh, cooked just right, and balanced in flavor.

While I don’t recommend visiting just for the food alone, the ambiance alone is enough for me to patronize this establishment whenever I’m in the area.

This place was amazing. So incredibly delicious. The fried fish was good too. Very light and perfectly crispy breading. And being on the water was very relaxing with no pressure to leave.

We had the clam chowder in a bread bowl. Wow. Definitely get that. 10/10 We splurged on 3 fresh lobsters and and fries. Worth every last penny we spent. The waiters were all extremely friendly and explained the method of cooking which is very interesting to us as we love cooking too. And coming over a few times to get things out of the way and make sure that everything is good. Also the children loved watching the boats leave dockside… Just such a great place to spend your time… Thanks for a wonderful time!!!!
