We had reservations here for New Year’s Eve at 5pm. The place was still mostly empty when we arrived. The restaurant is beautiful inside with a sort of upper class pub vibe, lots of dark wood and accents, plus some pretty quirky artwork as well as local images. Big band and crooner music was on.

We were seated at a table that was just barely big enough for two people. We definitely needed to shuffle old dishes off ASAP as more things arrived!

We had the meatball appetizer, which was fantastic, though I felt kinda bad that cutting the little bread loaf made a mess, crumbs everywhere. We each had a pizza for our main dish. My husband had the pig & piggy, while I had the mortadel. Truly fantastic pizzas. Great, flavorful dough with a lot of chew, and generous toppings. I found the portion to be quite large. There was an excellent alcohol selection. My husband had a beer, and I was very happy that they had a couple ciders.

I asked after dessert (the server did not bring it up), because this was NYE and required something special. They had one item, a pistachio croissant. This is an America-style croissant and quite soft, which was good in that it was easy to cut up and share. The buttery layers were easy to see and taste. The overall flavor reminded me of Dubai chocolate, the pistachio filling extremely sweet.

While our initial foods came out quite fast, service lagged near the end as the restaurant filled up. The staff seemed overwhelmed. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks, and we finished off our water pitcher and were never asked if we wanted more. We had to wait a while to get the check, but once we had it, we were able to pay promptly using a QR code.

In all, this was a great place with top-notch food. I’d love to come here again on a less-hectic day to hopefully have a better service experience.

Amazing place! My husband and I went on a date and ate here. The meatballs are so good! We shared those then he got the Italian beast sandwich w/ a salad and I got the Salmon and pasta with salad.
Service, ambiance and food were great! We will absolutely be back!

We’re absolutely loving this new restaurant in town! The homemade pastas, pizza, and soup were incredible. The atmosphere was perfect, and the wine was excellent.

We tried the butternut squash soup, homemade bucatini with meatballs, homemade lemon chicken with bucatini fusilli noodles, and the Roman pinsa pizza. Everything was fantastic!

This place is GREAT!
The ambiance was top notch with a color drench dark green and the *cutest* kitschy decor like brass silly taxidermy style critters.
The food is so so so good. Fresh and well-manicured ingredients, put together skillfully. Every item on the menu looked delicious- and everything we tried was so scrumptious. Maybe skip the house dressing if you’ve got chapped lips though, it’s vinegar-y

Exceptional service, taste, and atmosphere in this new establishment. I had the very flavorful Bistro Salad with salmon that was quite delicious. Ingredients were simple, fresh, and masterfully put together to make the perfect meal. We will return!

First, we were so happy this restaurant opened again. We’ve eaten here 3 times. Tonight we had the lemony chicken pasta. The sauce had great flavor, but a little runny (had to ask for a spoon). Noodles were over cooked. Chicken was sparse. Service was okay. Never asked how our food was. It seemed like there wasn’t enough staff.

We like sitting in the bar as it has a cozy vibe. Still don’t understand the TV’s being on. One had the 3 stooges and the other Snoopy making pizzas. Both were on a loop. Very odd. Really throws off the vibe. Liked it better when they just displayed the Yule log.

I have lived here close to two years from Minneapolis. I have been praying for a decent restaurant to finally come to this town. I had been to this restaurant when it was Home Plate many times. The food and service were spotty, but honestly there are few options for anything great. The service here was non existent and the food was laughable. I managed several bars and restaurants in the Twin Cities and can promise this place doesn’t deserve to stay open another month. I understand the first weeks of opening entitle employees to work out the kinks, but the entire staff was poorly trained (if at all). I watched several tables serve themselves water from the bar and have to flag down their server. I can’t even tell you who our server was as she didn’t introduce herself.
Now to the food: EMBARASSING. The butternut squash soup was barely warm and tasted exactly like jarred baby food. The lemony chicken pasta had chunks of uncooked garlic in it and basically tasted like Pinesol. The tomato chèvre was a block of barely warmed goat cheese with (not blistered) tomatoes thrown in. This town is screaming for a restaurant that takes pride in its customer service and quality of their food. This is definitely not that place. I give it less than a year.

We used to frequent this spot when it was the Home Plate Grill and are very happy to see it back open with a refreshed style, giving a special corner of Downtown Red Wing the restaurant it deserves. Highly recommend the bucatini with meatballs, which exceeded our entire family’s expectations (kids included). Speaking of kids, the initial menu, hours and atmosphere certainly lend themselves to more of a date-night outing than full-family affair, but it’s all at a reasonable price, too. We’ll be back!

Great new place in red wing. The atmosphere is lovely and the food was excellent. They are still getting their feet under them a little. They had a limited menu and their staff is still learning some things but I feel like this will quickly become a new favorite. The pizza in particular was something special.

Super limited beverage menu….. Okay, we can make it work. We started with the chèvre & goat cheese appetizer, it was tasty. Blazing hot (temp)! The flavors were yummy and although I could easily make at home, I would order it again! I really REALLY wanted a larger pasta menu (I was craving pasta), they had three options :(. We ordered the bucatini with meatballs. The meatballs were amazing!! LOVED them. So tender with the perfect heat! But the bucatini house made??…maybe? I don’t think so?? Most certainly needed more sauce, especially for a bucatini. Dessert was a pistachio croissant; which sounded lovely but we skipped. Service: admittedly was mediocre. She checked on us once, with about 5 noodles left. I was bummed about that. I’ve been in this industry for so many years, so for me, service certainly brings me back!
We’ll try it again for sure! But would love a more generous pasta selection (house made ideally) and much better service. Gosh I want this place to be great!
