I recently dined at Chatora, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the heart of Richmond, the restaurant has managed to seamlessly integrate traditional Indian flavors with innovative culinary techniques. The end result is a menu that celebrates the diversity and richness of India’s vast culinary heritage.

The talents of Head Chef Sunil D’Souza are evident in each dish, with every bite telling a story of India’s various regions—from the robust flavors of the North to the nuanced spices of the South, and the coastal influences of the East and West. The quality of the ingredients, especially the locally-sourced British seasonal produce, elevates the dining experience to new heights.

Among the standout dishes were the vegetarian options and the tandoor specialities. Seafood and game are also represented, offering a comprehensive array of choices for every palate.

I would highly recommend Chatora for anyone seeking to explore the boundaries of Indian cuisine while enjoying an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. It’s a gastronomic journey that shouldn’t be missed. Five stars all the way.

We visited Chatora in Richmond with high expectations, especially since it’s listed as a Michelin-rated restaurant. We opted for the two-course meal with unlimited Prosecco. While the service was attentive – the staff made sure our glasses were never empty – the food was underwhelming.
The dishes were just okay – certainly not what you would expect from a place with Michelin recognition. Flavours lacked depth, and presentation was average. Overall, it felt more like a standard restaurant with a good drinks offer rather than a fine dining experience.
It’s a shame, because the bottomless Prosecco was well-executed, but the food simply didn’t live up to the hype.

I recently visited Chatora Restaurant and was pleasantly surprised to learn it’s now under new management. The change is definitely for the better! The food was exceptional rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented. I tried a few different options from the menu, and each dish was delicious in its own way. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great food and an upgraded dining experience.

Very interesting menu – wished I’d come here with more people so that I could have sampled more. This is Richmond, so the prices reflect that – but the food was exceptional, the service bright and friendly, and the general vibe welcoming and quietly convivial. The vegetable samosas were the best I’ve ever had. Sole grumble – not really enough lamb in the Dum Biriani. But will come back.

We visited Chatora as a family of four—two adults and two kids—and had a fantastic experience. From the warm welcome to the relaxed, stylish setting, everything made us feel right at home.

The food was excellent, and the lamb kebab was the clear standout—tender, flavorful, and beautifully grilled. It came with delicious sides and was a hit with both adults. The kids also enjoyed their meals, which were thoughtfully prepared and perfect for younger diners.

Service was friendly and attentive, with staff who were great with the kids and happy to offer recommendations. The atmosphere was ideal for a relaxed family evening—elegant but never stuffy. Special thanks to Sahil, Sabina, Leticia and the team for an outstanding hospitality.

We left full and happy, already planning our next visit. Highly recommended for families and anyone who appreciates quality food and warm hospitality!

The restaurant has a good vibe but the food really lets it down. We ordered a few signature dishes and they were bland, flavourless and chilli has replaced real flavour. Dishes are reasonably priced but there are better places than Chatora.

Delicious food but a bot underwhelming for a Michelin star.

Mushroom in veg biryani was very chewy. Mutter paneer was decent. Service can be improved

Recently dined at this vibrant restaurant, and the lively atmosphere immediately caught our attention. The place was bustling with people, creating a lively buzz. The owner, who was remarkably friendly, engaged us in a pleasant chat, adding a personal touch to our dining experience.

Opting for the bottomless brunch, we were surprised to learn it doesn’t happen on rugby days. Nonetheless, it gives us a perfect reason to return for another delightful experience.

The food was a true highlight. We started with Papad basket which came with three delicious chutneys. Our starter Tandoori Phool was a burst of unique flavors, unlike anything I’ve tasted before. My other half savored the chicken biryani, expressing his delight. As a vegetarian, I tried the Artichoke- asparagus biryani, a dish I had never experienced before. To say it was extraordinarily delicious would be an understatement.

The drinks complemented the meal perfectly (though my Mango turmeric tango cocktail lacked Mango flavour it was more turmericy) , rounding off a delightful dining experience. Despite the rugby day hiccup, the delicious food, friendly owner, and lively ambiance make it a place we’re eager to revisit. Highly recommended for those seeking a combination of delectable cuisine and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. ️ #DiningDelight
