There are some excellent options for fine dining in and around Longboat Key, St. Armands, Sarasota, etc.; however, Chart House (sadly) isn’t one of them.

After many years of wanting to try out Chart House, my wife and I finally made it a priority on this trip to give it a shot. While the restaurant is situated on a beautiful location on the South tip of Longboat Key, that is really the one and only positive I am able to share about our experience this evening.

Unfortunately, our server left a lot to be desired for a fine restaurant. Not only was he not personable with either my wife or I, he also did not one offer to refill our empty water glasses or offer to get my wife a second cocktail. He also did not offer us any bread so I had to request that after it was clear he wasn’t going to be bringing us any.

My filet (which was ordered Medium Well) came out rare as you can see in the photo with a cold center. Ordinarily, that wouldn’t be a huge deal if our waiter had even stopped by to check on us or confirm things were prepared to our liking. When he eventually came by to clear our plates, he asked if I wanted a box to which I stated I wouldn’t need one given the portion I didn’t eat was not cooked to my taste. He did take 50% off that item so I will make it clear they did at least offer some type of resolution.

Ultimately, my wife and I are far from particular, but we both agreed this was easily one of the worst service experiences we have ever had at a restaurant, much less a fine dining experience where you expect to pay at least $75/per person not including beverages or tips.

This was a one and done for us so felt it was important to warn others that you will be far happier going with options like Shore, CW Prime at the Regis, Tommy Bahamas, Mar Vista, Dry Dock, etc.

Very nice restaurant with fantastic views. Seems like a local hangout around the bar. The place is huge with plenty of seating. Jason was are server and took good care of us. The food was tasty. We especially enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and the chilled bowl chop salad. Prices fair for location and what we had. We will return!

We had dinner here. We were seated by the windows and that allowed us to enjoy the water view. Our server was nice.

We had crab cakes, clam chowder soup, and Kim Chee Calamari for appetizers. For main dish we had, sea bass with mashed potatoes and asparagus. For dessert, we had a dish that brought 3 different flavor crème brûlée. Sangria and water.

The crab cakes was tasteful. The clam chowder was okay, nothing to write home about and the same for the sea bass. The creme brûlée dessert was good, different flavors to suit different paletes.

Overall, it’s a nice restaurant with nice views. The food was okay.

Chart house is always a fun one when visiting Long Boat Key. They have a great early dinner menu as well as a great happy hour at the bar. The views are what makes this place special! Recommend making a reservation as they fill up quickly. They have a beautiful salad bar if that’s your thing but I was very pleased with their house salad. We will be back next visit to the area!

First time dining, we didn’t have reservations but got a high top in the bar area, Max was our server. Great service, food was excellent and a nice atmosphere for having conversations.
View from our table was great considering we were at the back of the bar, will be back and make reservations for the main dining area.

We arrived at 7pm on a Friday night with reservations and were immediately seated at a beautiful table overlooking the bay and bridge.
It was our first visit and came to try out the restaurant during Savor Sarasota. We ordered the Caesar Salad, Salmon with Shrimp and Key lime pie. All were exceptional and very generous portions. Sadie our server was attentive during the entire evening and most importantly we never felt rushed leaving our beautiful view. We will definitely be back.

I have never been disappointed the ambiance and the view from The Chart House. Every seat one has you have a view of the water. The staff I had encountered on my last visit were so wonderful and kind. it was a take out order and the hostess kept me posted on what was going on and which food was needed to finish the order. When I got back to our place my dad was very surprised at the dish he was served. “They have this>” He thought I picked the food up from Crab and Fin. No. The Chart House prepared. He loved it The salmon and Asian String Beans I had was very good. Mom had the steak and mash potatoes. We did order the side of Mushrooms and I would recommend they put those mushrooms in a different container the juice was all over the bag. Did not get on the other food but very messy. Air tight container they use for the main meal would be better. We have been dining for quite some time and have not been disappointed and if the meal had to be returned, we had no issues on them doing so. Great place to eat in or dine out.

I wanted to try a new restaurant for Thanksgiving and was suggested to go to chart house. I couldn’t have been more happy with the service. I had a waitress named Maria and she was very professional, polite and on top of all of my tables needs. I will definitely be back not just for the food but for the wonderful atmosphere I experienced

Excellent dinner. The savory shrimp pasta was hands down the best Scampi I have ever had. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. The grouper was also tasty. Mom said the lamb was ok. The chocolate lava cake was yummy even though it was over baked just a bit. No lava. Our server was wonderful even though she had several tables. We had a window table, and the view was gorgeous.

Excellent service from moment of arrival. Even though the restaurant was busy, the hostesses were so warm and accommodating. Our server, Craig was so nice and attentive and helped us with our selections. I really enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and the salmon for main course, also recommend the mango tuna avocado appetizer. Besides the top notch service, the restaurant itself, with warm tones and beautiful views of the Gulf, made the dining experience exceptional. Will be back.
