Food: I got the 3 piece meal with Charo rice and black beans. I chose the BBQ sauce. Delicious and moist chickens and the side were yummy. The BBQ sauce was tangy and was a perfect choice to smother the chicken in.
Service: The staff was friendly and helped me choose my items. Place was also clean.
Final word. I got the 3 piece meal for $15…but it does not include a drink. Should though for $15.

I loved this place. I got a two piece baked chicken combo that was stupendously delicious. It had a lemon light sauce and paprika dusting that was nearly gourmet. The sides weren’t skimpy. It wasn’t cheap but typical fast food isn’t much less. Check out the photos.

I choose to get Charro chicken about once every three months. I prefer drive thru chicken. But I do like their tortillas a little better and their side selections. My kids like it, however, a few times my family found it to be a little too salty. But when we it’s not overly salty chicken, it’s really good. It’s way over priced for generic Mexican food. You’re better off going to Del Taco, it’s $5 for one taco and if you don’t check your order before you leave it’s most likely wrong. I asked for salsa and he said it’s in the bag there was no salsa in the bag. The taco was dry, all cabbage and pico de gallo needed flavor. Take your business somewhere else, they don’t care if you’re happy with your order.

I don’t know if this location closed permanently (we’re not locals to the area), but my family loves Charo Chicken! We’ve been coming here since the early 90’s, anytime we head out to Costa Mesa we know to get a big family meal for next day leftovers. This place is great, I think much better than it’s competitor el pollo loco. Chicken is moist and flavorful, rice and beans and tortillas are all really tasty. I love the red rice! Great easy meal for our picky toddlers. We will start coming more often!

I was really disappointed in this place. I saw so many great reviews and then when I went ahead and made an order the chicken was extremely dry and there was not really that much garlic butter on it to say. The people there were super nice and the service was fast and even a guy standing in line said that’s the place he went all the time for his grilled chicken. Maybe I was just one time that unlucky guy. this was my first chance to try them don’t know when or if I will try them again.
