I enjoyed a solo weekday breakfast of brussel sprouts and the Phomo at the bar, and couldn’t have asked for more. Jenna was excellent and made great suggestions.
If you think you’ve tried all the brussel sprouts out there and aren’t a fan, try theirs. Sumptuous yet not too heavy, sweet or oily, as other brussels tend to be.
The Phomo hit the spot. Savory, rich, yet not so heavy that you walk away sluggish.
Try it, you’re going to like it. I’ll be back to order their other dishes.
On a positive note, the food was very good. I ordered the phomo and the Belgian waffle, and both were perfection. My husband had the crab dip, which was just okay. We were also fortunate to have the most pleasant waitress; it was her first day, and she did an amazing job. Best of luck to this wonderful young woman!
Since they’re fairly new, they seem to be ironing out some kinks. When I arrived, no one greeted me at the entrance, but I noticed my party had already been seated, so I made my way over.
Our server wasn’t very knowledgeable about the menu items. They offer a shrimp and “grits” dish where the grits are actually made with farro grain. When we asked whether the base was cream or tomato, she said she’d check with the chef, but we never received an answer. We decided to try it anyway and discovered it has a tomato base. While it was flavorful, shrimp doesn’t complement farro particularly well, and considering we’re in southern Louisiana, they should really just serve authentic shrimp and grits.
My cocktail was excellent, and the apple dessert with ice cream was also very good. I’d recommend passing on their king cake interpretation, which is essentially just an eclair topped with purple sprinkles.
