Here’s a critical yet fair restaurant review that highlights both strengths and weaknesses.
The dining experience at this Thai restaurant was unfortunately inconsistent. The jasmine tea tasted as though it was made from plain tap water, lacking the fragrant aroma and depth one would expect. The chicken satay was particularly disappointing—the meat was dry and noticeably bland, with very little seasoning or flavor, which took away from what is typically a standout appetizer in Thai cuisine.
On a positive note, the tom yum soup was well executed and enjoyable, delivering a good balance of spice and tang that reflected authentic flavors. However, the overall experience was further dampened by an automatically added gratuity on the bill, which was not clearly communicated upfront.
While there are signs of potential in certain dishes, the lack of consistency in food quality and transparency in billing leaves room for significant improvement.

The ambience is amazing,warm, cozy, and beautifully decorated. The food was absolutely delicious and The service truly stood out. Both of the girls working there were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and kind. They made the whole experience even better.

Don’t be fooled by the lack of patrons sitting inside, Charm Thai is the place to be if you’re craving high quality, authentic Thai food. Today was Friday, they had some live music, it was wonderful!

Just an amazing overall experience. The food is just spot on. Our Favs beef Penang, crispy basil duck, Drunken flat rice noodles, the volcano shrimp , the whole fish in the thai sauce. The host/ owner is just so gracious & pleasing & the ambiance is absolutely equal to any fine dining atmosphere with the twist of delicious thai food.

I had their papaya salad which was good, less quantity for the price but taste wise it was good. Then had red curry with tofu. As you can see from the picture, there were too many tofu pieces some tasted sour! Curry quantity was very low. I got tired eating just the tofu which btw didn’t taste fresh. Lastly I ended up getting the curry to go and asked for box, the server gave me one plastic container and didn’t even give a paper bag! Overall I felt not served well, my red curry ($18) didn’t have enough “curry”. Hard pass

In the sweet bustle of this charming town is a delightful Thai spot called Charm Thai. As a biased Thai foodie, I left smitten with this place. The service was charming and the food delicious. As the Brit’s would describe, “beautiful”. Served in traditional Thai table ware and with traditional Thai flavors, surrounded by Uber, right umbrellas, and Thai dancer puppets, the night consisted of Thai curry puff to start, followed with curries and a stir fry. Both the Panang curry and the Thai green curry or spicy as requested and hit the spot. The stirfry had just enough garlic and Thai sweet soy to balance the umami so nothing was overwhelming, but perfectly balanced. Unfortunately, we were too full to have dessert, but I will definitely come back here to try some. So when in Montclair, New Jersey when you want to feel transported to the beaches of Thailand by flavor, definitely stop by this spot. ❤️

My brother recommended this place, and this is my second time ordering. The first time, I ordered the red snapper and drunken noodles. The second time, I ordered the thai fried rice and basil fried rice with vegetable curry puff. Everything was fresh and delicious

Randomly found this place and so happy that I did they have been open for 5 months. The owner and is wife are fantastic! They provided great service and were very hospitable. The food is the most authentic Thai that I have had. The curry fried rice was amazing and their drunken noodle had the perfect spice. I also finished all the dumplings but wish I had saved room for the fried ice cream because it was amazing. I can’t wait to go back.

This place has good food. We had the spaghetti kee mao, fish and beef satay. The food was a tasty spicy which I loved. The food came out quick and Their portion sizes are great and the prices are reasonable, except for the snapper fish which was listed as market price only for it to be $45. I would have appreciated the server giving us a heads up on the price, I also asked for no onions and I still get my dish with onions. I will definitely go back but not for the expensive fish. The service was okay overall and the place was quiet and clean.

This is one of my favorite Thai food spots in this area. Food is really good. I order from here and pick up quite often. However sometimes I order for delivery and I really wish they could get stickers or something to go on top of the drinks to ensure delivery drivers can’t put anything in it. Or the drinks don’t leak out.
