Good food and friendly service! Charlie’s has a surprising variety of different grilled and fried foods, including vegetarian options. Located very conveniently near Robe-Ann Park and a public pool. We had a good lunch here!

My husband & son ate there yesterday on their way to St Louis. My husband won’t quit talking about it. Wants to take me on a road trip just so I can see how mouthwatering good the burger is. Son agreed with him. After first bite, they both said WOW in unison. They had double and fries. Cheese dripping off the amazing bun and great fries. Loved the atmosphere, service and price. Can’t wait to get my turn.

We visited Charlie’s on June 5 during a road trip through Indiana, based on reviews we found online. Plus, I contacted them prior to our trip and the owner sent me a coupon to use! I will be honest; as we drove up I was a little skeptical. The building looked a little more tired than I was expecting – maybe I thought it was a newer place. But, the parking lot was full and that’s always a good sign. I’m so glad we stopped.
The menu is mainly burgers, with a handful of other sandwich/hot dog-type options. We were a little surprised to see a five-patty burger offered, but the young lady explained that they are thinner, along the lines of a Steak-N-Shake patty, if you are more familiar with that chain. My daughter and I ordered single burgers, and the boys all had doubles. Everyone’s was suitable, except my husband felt he would have liked one more patty. The food was delivered quickly, and all of our various topping orders came out correct. We also had fries (very good), and pickle fries (fried pickles, but cut like French fries) – which were EXCELLENT. Try them with the bistro sauce.
They also had an ice cream counter and from what I hear have some amazing shakes.
Prices were exceptionally reasonable for the burgers. We were able to eat for under $30 (five of us). Even without the coupon it would have been under $40, which for us is great. We will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Service was good. Got food fast. The food was very good..pickles are awsome..I had the tenderloin basket with onion rings. All was great. My husband loved the food and service which is quite amazing..will be back to eat again soon. The girl that took our order at the counter was awsome. She helped get our order as this was our first time eating there. She remanded food to all 4 of our family without making a fuss. Made a great experience even better. Sorry I did not catch her name but she deserves a gold star..

Do I dare call it the best grilled chicken sandwich around? Yes I do! I gave Charlie’s five stars after I had the grilled chicken sandwich twice and both times loved it. Big pickle slices (bread and butter pickles, I think) grilled onions and honey mustard made it even better second time around. The blt is equally good and adding an egg makes for an amazing breakfast. You choose your toppings and they’re free, which isn’t too shabby! Green leafy lettuce too. Just yummy all around.
Prices are not cheapest around but quality is quite good so you get what you pay for. You can save on daily special combos which I found quite affordable however too.
Sides are good. I like the sweet potato fries myself. Might like a kick of spice would be the only slight change I’d recommend but still good anyway.
Oh and they have friendly staff. Charlie’s is an independent local restaurant that hires people who have special needs. As a mom of a child who’s autistic, and a local resident, I like and want to support a business like this.

Stopped here for a quick bite while riding through town. Staff was very friendly and food was good. We certainly got our money’s worth. Didnt realize it is a place that integrates disabled people into society. Very neat idea. I would definitely stop again.

Food is pretty good, wouldn’t expect a lot from a Beefcake Burger joint. However the service is why I gave this place a single star. I stopped in on lunch at about 12:40 PM, there were about 6 orders in front of me and it took 35 minutes to get my food. All of the staff is extremely slow. It is to my understanding that they hire mentally disabled staff, I have nothing against this, I just believe they could have provided better service. The elderly woman who took my order at the cash register was rude when other customers were coming up and complaining that they had been waiting for over 30 minutes on a single order. Won’t be stopping in here next time I am in Greencastle, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend stopping here unless you have a couple hours of time to kill.

Got to say I was in town going to try out either Charlie’s which I’d seen just one week earlier or Marvin’s which I’ve always heard good things about. The beefcake burgers were tremendous! I’m going to have a heck of a time passing this place up to go to Marvin’s though it’s a good restaurant also I really loved and enjoyed the food here at Charlie’s can’t wait to go back! Glad to have great service and great food at a good fair price. Keep up the great work guys!
