Charlie’s Hot dogs started in 1963 by Charles Summa a WWII veteran. The stand was a well known staple in Brentwood NY for over 50 years. Charlie’s closed down due to town only permitting veterans to have a license. More forward 10 years later, the town now allows non veterans to have a permit. Due to popular demand, Charlie’s daughter Jeanne has re opened for all to enjoy again!

I want to lead of with one thing… Yes, it’s a hot dog truck but it’s a hot dog truck with heritage. I used to go to the original location on Spur Drive North when I was a child over 20 years ago. I was sad to see that location close down. I was elated to see they were open again in a new location. I finally found time to visit it and em the taste was exactly the same and I was able to buy some of their amazing onions in a jar. The hot dogs have a lovely bite that if your a hot dog can you know what I mean. The ladies were excellent and even though I ordered via food app cause I didn’t have cash still honored the lunch deal when I came to the window to pick up. I will definitely be back and I look forward to hopefully having my children understand how special this place is and how it’s a staple.

My dad and I were craving roadside hot dogs and he punched in hotdogs into Google maps and came across this nice little stand.
9 dollars for 2 hot dogs with toppings, a drink and a bag of chips (Mac or potato salad for a dollar more) was a really nice deal in my opinion.
Food was great and the staff was even greater. Looking forward to coming back

Charlie’s Legendary Hot Dogs truly lives up to its name. The three hot dog special I had for lunch was a masterclass in flavor and variety. The first hot dog with sauerkraut, mustard, and ketchup was a classic delight, while the second with cheese and onion sauce was rich and satisfying. The third, topped with chili, cheese sauce, and bacon, was an indulgent treat. Paired with chips and a soda for $14.00. The employees working inside are delight to talk to, and will tell you stories of the truck. I Highly recommended!

When it comes to hot dogs… Charlie’s does it right. What you see below is a trio of melted cheese on top of a bed of crispy homemade bacon bits on a semi toasted bun with a crunchy well cooked hot dog next to the best addition to a meal. 2 yoohoos with a bag of honey bbq chips. I can’t lie this is not diet food. This is indulgence at its finest. I gained weight after eating those 3 but it won’t be the last time I do. Great place, great location, great prices, great people and even better great food. CASH ONLY.. please wear a mask when going to order due to covid19 restrictions. See ya soon. Enjoy

I have been craving (Dirty water dog’s) for a while now but there are no longer any trucks around. Today I google Hot dog trucks near me and a few came up Charlie’s being one of them, after reading about them I chose to drive almost 30 mins to Charlie’s, the pictures all looked good and there story on how longbin business and they were once in Brentwood which I realized this is the truck I used to visit with my Mom when I was 5 years old until they moved. I was more then happy when I pulled up to a nice well taken care of truck, 2 lovely ladies that I could easily see take pride in there business. Absolutely delicious hot dogs, even got a knight for home.. I will be back. No doubt… Thank you Ladies… P.S I hope no offense on the description (Dirty water dogs) this truck DEFINITELY did not have Dirty water, everything was and is spotless…..

I had to make a review because Charlies has crushed my soul when found out they no longer carry the original cheese sauce from back in the day! What happened?!! Don’t get cheap on us now. That’s the reason why you are part of my core memories in Brentwood on Spur Dr!
