We have to say we were a little skeptical on coming here but we will definitely be back. Although the place is dated the menu is extensive and the food was excellent. We had the smelt basket which was amazing. To top it off we had the nicest, sweetest, server, Amber. She truly is a bright spot. We live up North but work out of Grand Rapids and this will be our new favorite place. It is worth a try and see for yourself. Thank you Amber for such a wonderful night. Wishing you the very best

Going out for food and drinks isn’t cheap anymore, so when you go out you want to get a good value. Charlie’s delivers in spades on that front.
The prices are extremely reasonable – and be sure to check out the specials board – always full of bargains. No pre-packaged foodservice crap here, they make actual food! The pot pie is a particular favorite, but most everything I’ve had is very good. You won’t get ripped off on the drinks, either.
No, this isn’t a suit and tie joint, it’s got “small town” vibes to the look and feel, but this is one of my favorite spots in all of GR, not just Plainfield.

We had such a great time at Charlie’s Bar and Grill on Plainfield! Jody and Tara were absolutely fantastic—super responsive, quick on their feet, and made the whole experience fun from start to finish. They kept the laughs coming with their jokes, tossed in compliments and even some recommendations along the way. Their generosity and upbeat energy made us feel right at home. Service like that is hard to come by, and it really made the night memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

Charlie’s is a family owned business. One of the few places left that cares about the customer experience. Yes, they can be busy at times. That’s ok, they’re busy for a good reason. It’s worth a short wait. Charlie’s provides great customer service, great food, a menu with huge variety & very fair pricing. The fully stocked bar has a local vibe and the best pour in GR. I wasn’t impressed with the glass of wine I ordered – shouldn’t order wine at a bar and grill anyway.

Ordered take out for the first time I work nearby and wanted to try them out pretty solid to me got the buffalo chicken wrap can’t go wrong there and tried there mozzarella sticks and those were delicious whatever seasoning/prep they do to them was very tasty, I’m thinking a burger next

Excellent local restaurant with a full bar. Most of the menu is homemade. Charlie is likely to greet you personally. Almost 24 years in business with a wide selection on the menu. Mexican, Italian, Steak, Shrimp, Fish and Chips, Sandwiches, Burgers, a wide selection of grilled cheese with homemade tomato soup. Generous pours on the mixed drinks. My very picky son about hamburgers said it is “The best hamburger he has ever had and he regrets not coming sooner”.
